Its my 50th next year so I thought I would try to combine a trip to Las Vegas
with some sort of cruise and have seen the mexican riviera advertised with various cruise lines, and was interested if anyone has been on one of these cruises and would give an HONEST OPINION of what they thought.
PS we would prefer an informal cruise.
many thanks

I looked into this last year. Got a brochure in from http://www.scotlandscruisecentre.co.uk and they had tailor-made a package.
If you decided to go for it, find out how much of the cost is for the Vegas hotel. If you check the Vegas Hotels topic in the America forum you will see the kind of offers that are available. You can probably get the hotel cheaper booking direct on a promo, or get a much better hotel for the same money.
To save going off topic in here, post any questions about Vegas or hotels there in the America forum.

Next November we are doing just this. We fly to Vegas (with Virgin) on Saturday 13th, then on Sunday driving through to San Pedro (the port of Los Angeles) to join Royal Carribean's "Mariner of the Seas" for a 7 day cruise down to the Mexican Riviera - Cabo San Luca, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. Back to San Pedro, then back to Vegas (only a 4 hour drive) for a week back in Sin City.
Flights, car hire and cruise all booked independently. In Vegas we stay in our house there, but hotel deals are plentiful.

Just as an update Royal Caribbean will no longer sail out of LA from January 2011
