Yep, give them a light wash to remove any dressing and excess dye.
I personally haven't got any micro fibre towels, but I do have micro fibre cloths and it says in the washing instructions, do not add fabric conditioner.

This I presume stops the absorbency or the cleaning ability of the cloths, it may also stop the absorbency of towels...I dunno.

I love microfibre towels but they do depend on the quality to how good they are at drying you. I have some I bought from Lidl and they are useless (usually get good bargains there but not this time) and some from QVC which are brilliant.
Wash them first and DO NOT use any fabric conditioner in the wash - don't know why but that is what it says on my label - must stop them absorbing the water.
Try them out before you take them on holiday so you know what they are like.

Microfibre works by doing "exactly what it says on the tin"

They're made up of tiny microfibres that either attract dirt/germs etc. (cleaning cloths/mops etc) and keep them "hooked" in the fibres. The advantage of the towels is they act in the same way but absorb moisture instead.

Fabric conditioner flattens these microfibres and therefore renders them inactive so they won't "hook" moisture etc.

On a seperate note most quality towel manufacturers and retailers recommend no fabric conditioner on any type of towelling as it doesn't aid absorbtion.......I know M&S have signs up on their towel section advising of this.

I ordered 2 lots (4 bath towels) at midnight in Azure Blue from QVC, not the today's special value as I have plenty of other hand towels and don't need anymore at the moment.

You lot got me thinking with this thread and I thought we could do with some new beach towels, especially if they are lightweight and don't take up as much room in the case as conventional towels.....
