I am sending hubby to Milan in Feb to see a football match, AC or Inter it doesn't matter. Can they buy tickets on the day of the match or should I pay extortionate prices through an agent before they get there. They are asking about £60 for the cheapest ticket. I don't want to book flights and hotel and then find that they don't get to see the match. Also does the stadium have a 'tour' ? Hubby is on a mission to see all the best stadiums in Europe and this is next on his list.
I know someone who went a couple of years ago (a couple with their boy), and they wanted 3 tickets, and it was expensive to buy. They managed to contact someone (at the club I think) and the guy got them tickets and they collected them the day before. I remember her saying it like the guy had done her a big favour, and she took him a bottle of whisky.
I won't see the person, so can't ask...but I'm sure the guy worked at the actual football park, I'm sure that's where they went to collect the tickets from him. You could enquire.

Hello,
Ok so it's about a year after your original post but I thought someone might appreciate an answer anyway.
Having failed to see Roma play at Easter due to the death of the pope (no disrepect intended) - all the matches were postponed until the following weekend as a mark of respect - I took my reluctant wife to milan this week to see Inter v Roma at the San Siro.
Good news - it's really easy. I paid 19 euros, my wife paid 14 euros (about £25 between us - yes, it's cheaper for females!) and had an excellent time. My wife said it felt like the shortest game she'd ever seen.
We bought tickets 2 hours before kick off from the ticket office (be warned the ticket office is closed during the day - we went there!), they spoke good english, and even advised us (truthfully) where to sit as we wanted somewhere relatively quiet.
Only thing to watch out for is to take your passport when buying the tickets as they require ID.
Hope this is of some use to someone out there
Ben

thanks for that. Hubby hasn't been yet but I think it is on this years Xmas wish list. It sounds easy and cheap!
No worries - I spent ages looking myself. Almost bought tickets online direct from the Inter site but didn't have a clue where to sit. As long as it's not AC v Inter I'd imagine tickets are easy enough to come by (I'm guessing).
The bar outside the ground (no alcohol sold inside) is relatively cheap (3euros 50 for a pint - cheaper than the rest of Milan) and we caught the tube (metro?) to Lotto and followed the crowd from there. Approx 20min walk. Ours was a night game too, and there were still trains running on the way back.
Obviously there are more expensive tickets, but we had a good view.
Thoroughly recommend it.
