Hi All
I am new to this site, but not new to goa!! So i thought i would say hi!!
Me and my husband have been several times now and are going back on 16th Feb can't wait, we are staying in the Mira hotel in Calangute has anyone stayed in there recently?? I am sure it will be great we have been in before and had a drink but never stayed.
We missed last year as we were getting married so i am hoping there has been no goa charm lost, when we went last time there was afew more kids there and it was getting abit more expensive etc i hope it hasnt changed too much though since we last went. Anyone who can fill me in on any bits that might have changed that would great!!
Also is there any Big Banana visitors on here I am dying to know if all the same faces are still working there I am sure they are but I would love to know if Unkle, john, and micheal are still there, if anyone knows!!
oh only 23 days to go
Michael wasn't at Big Banana last season as he'd gone to the UK with a lady that he met at the shack...not sure if he's back this season.
ha ha the charmer he is that doesnt suprise me!!!
Thanks Fiona

Be sure to check out the Thai restaurant that is run by the side of The Mira pool every evening. It isn't owned by the Mira, the food is a very reasonable price (perhaps a little expensive by Goan standard) but absolutely georgeous.
Have a wonderful time
It has a small pool but is only 5 mins from the beach.
I can also back up that the Thai food in the Oriental restaurant is superb and very reasonable as well make sure you give it a try.
Uncle is still at the Big Banana, we used Boscos last month and often saw uncle chasing the sellers up the beach. a word of warning about the BB they were charging for beds when we were there, a lot of regulars were not too happy and went elsewhere. As for the Mira, hope its good as we are there for 3 weeks in March. I know the area but have never stayed there.

im going there too in March paul what date do you go on ? I have been round to the Thai restaurant with some friends in November past and like everyone said it was fab ..maybe see you there in March The BB shack was fantastic - Uncle chasing off the beach hawkers!! , Michael DID come to the UK, when we was there the lady he was coming back with was out there - how that woman could have so many massages I will never know! John was there too - as mentioned in another post, he likes his whiskey and water which have a habit of appearing on your bill!!
One of the waiters there is a chap called Lawarence, an absolutely lovely man - he also does taxi's and we used him a great deal last time we was there - we are returning on 26th Feb and have already booked Lawrence to collect us. Fireworks on the Weds night too - not to be missed - lol
Also the main place for the charity on the Saturday afternoon when the kids come and have a swim and we get the chance to buy fruit etc for them
Shame to hear about the sun bed charges
:WE will be going on feb 14 staying at the csm always used then BB and never payed for sunbeds looks like we will be moving on to boscos
Thanks everyone for replying!! I am getting very excited now!!! Cant wait, That will be disapointing if they are still charging though hopefully they will get the idea that people will just leave and stop it before we get there!!
I dont suppose you know how much they were charging do you paul??
We will definatly try the thai restuarant i have heard nothing but good reports about it so will give it a go
and i can just imagine Unkle chasing away the sellers!! and as you say john with his drinks we have had that a few times
we are there till 3rd march so may cross over times with a few of you!!

Last year we had a flight with mytravel (booked with thomascook though). We didnt prebook inflight meals, yet we still got them
I would say make sure you have lunch before you board the plane, and take lots of goodies with you (we usually take a few packs of pringles from asda for 71p each! bargain. Also we take sweets etc.
Id say im more than 70% sure we will receive food on the thomascook flight.

Hi Yummy mummy that will be good if we do get it anyway, as strangely enough i do enjoy the food but i was not paying £35 for it
Thanks

Hi, i understand what you mean, fingers crossed eh
We will see you at the Mira in March, we fly out on the 7th. Its only a short stagger from Mollys on the 17th.
Reply about the BB, they were charging 100 for beds at Xmas, lots of regulars tried to get them free but all got turned down. By now they may have realised they are turning good business away and relented.
I got meals on T. Cook flight in November - take your own, they were Fizz
