Hi all .. just checking hotels in the Salou area for my sister-in-law and her 2 kids for a week in May 2018, and found that it was £100 cheaper in some hotels to book as a 2 Adults and 1 Child as opposed to 1 Adult & 2 children >.. which doesn't make sense .. as a child takes up the same space in a room but would also probably eat a lot less

That's very interesting. I agree that it doesn't make sense.
If you are booking through hotels.com make sure you use a cashback site like quidco. They often have 12% or 10% deals.
It's always been the same, especially with self catering as less under occupancy charge that way.
I was looking at hotel accommodation, half board for eg, & it was the same price for a single person as it was for 2 sharing :que. So basically, if a friend is strapped for cash but can pay for their airfare you could take them with you & it doesn't cost either of you anymore yet both can have half board.
