I've not stayed there but most of the 'better' hotels.....and I'd include the Monte Carlo in that list........do tend to have in room safes, if they don't, they always have safes down at reception.
I have stayed there - sure that my room had a safe. Very little casio winning to store in it though.
the safe deposit boxes are behind the reception at the monte Carlo & you have to sign whenever you use the box. you will also need foto id to have a box.
I have booked to stay there for 2 weeks in August and I wanted to ask them if they had any free upgrades as I am celebrating my anniversary and for a bottle of champagne to be put in my room.
Are they likely to give me a free upgrade or will they think i'm at it?
Wait until you get there and smile and be nice to them while asking then maybe you will get it for free.

If you email them this far ahead, the response would be negative, try calling them a week before you arrive, by then they will have more of an indication what room availability they have.
Just out of curiosity, what date in August are you arriving?

I fly from Glasgow on 29th August for 2 weeks. I sooo can't wait.
Have you stayed at Monte Carlo? Are the rooms nice? I've only been once before and stayed at TI.
Yes, we have stayed at MC twice previously, although everyone has a different view of how a hotel room should be, however, we found the room acceptable.
The reason I asked what date you are arriving is important, Labour Day weekend in the US is Friday 01st - Monday 4th September 2006, therefore, Vegas will be extremely busy, relying on a complimentary upgrade during this period will be almost impossible.
When we visited during August last year, I asked about complimentary upgrades on check in, however, the MC like most other hotels don't like to give anything away for free, and whilst no complimentary upgrade was available, we were offered a Monaco Suite for an extra $25 per night, which we accepted, the exchange rate at that time made this a great offer.
Personally, I'd wait until you get there and ask, that way you may get a better price than if you book now, if you are in any doubt about paying for an upgrade on arrival, ask to view both rooms before making your decision.
Finally, you may want to phone the hotel direct closer to your departure date and see what they can do for you.
Good Luck

I,ve stayed in the NY NY & the Luxor, the rooms were probably bigger in the Monte Carlo than the other 2 but all fairly similar...
several posters have mentioned that the word's biggest building site is right next door to the Monte Carlo Casino Hotel in Vegas. Another hotel I guess! Can anyone tell how advanced it is and how long this is likely to be for? KNow which new hotel it is (I can then make enquiries about completion dates!)
I guess the speed that they put things up over there means it might be finished by Easter next year when 8 of us were thinking of going. Anyone know what the situation is? Does it affect any other hotels?
Any inf would be appreciated.
We have just returned, and yes its the largest building site on the strip.
Not sure what impact its having on guests staying there, but they are working 24 hours each day, every day.
As for next April, I would not risk spoiling my holiday, they have only just dug the foundations.
As for other hotels, just consider that the Bellagio is very close, depending on where your room is allocated, and do not consider the Jockey Club, sometimes these condos come up for rental.
Take a look at TripAdvisor, you may find more recent information as we returned on the 3rd May.
Kaz.
Thanks for info. I have been doing a bit of research and the development is called City Center and at its peak the job will have 8000 construction workers and 39 cranes!! Unbelievable. You are right, another choice of hotel will be necessary! If anyone else is interested in construction projects in Vegas that might affect their holiday plans, have a look at a website called vegastodayandtomorrow. As the forum doesnt allow complete URL's.. its a com site.
We returned on 11 May and were staying at Planet Hollywood, directly opposite the City Center site. The building is half way built, but it will be a long time until it's finished so I wouldn't suggest staying at the Monte Carlo next door.
