Last year we stayed in Olu Deniz, but we did a boat trip from Fethyie. (we were told its easier to get on the boats at Fethyie as its a proper harbour, in Olu its a bit harder to board them). It lasted about 2 hours & was really nice you went round the bay at Fethyie, they moared up for about 40 minuites so that people could jump off the boat and have a swim ( obviously you don't have to do this if you don't want to) and then they took you back to Fethyie.

This would probably be suitable with a young child and if you dont want to do 12 island etc.

There were places on the boat to sunbake or go undercover if you got too hot. They also had a selection of soft drinks and icecreams on board.

If you dont fancy this one because of it not stopping on a beach, just go into either Olu Deniz or Fethyie and ask the locals who sell trips whats on offer and I am sure they will find one to suit you.

We did one that went to Butterfly Valley and several other stops. I do remember that at the Butterfly Valley stop and the one at St Nicholas' island, the boat went in close to the shore and you could easily walk onto the beaches there. So if you choose a trip which includes those two stops, you should be able to avoid swimming out of your depth. Also one suggestion - take a big rubber ring with you and your child can just bob about in that if it is deep.

Last September OH and I went on a 6 Islands boat trip from Belcekiz beach. We booked with Bloody Gorgeous and paid £6 each. Money well spent. What a great day. I am not the greatest swimmer, but felt confident swimming off the boat in the still waters of some of the bays. It was wonderful. I'm sure your son would be fine with a rubber ring, but even if he doesn't feel like swimming, I'm sure he won't be bored. Butterfly beach is great fun. We sat and had a drink at the one and only bar and had a swim, but those feeling more energetic walked to the waterfalls there. At one of the bays a speedboat pulled up alongside and offered various rides. Just watching the people bouncing about in the various craft was really funny. Lunch is included and on our boat an old Turkish lady was making pancakes. Do go - I'm sure you'll both have a great day out.

I also went from fetiye to olu deniz by boat - it was quite cheap and included all our food. We'd get off the boat and go exploring a lot of the time, it was great.

We went to Olu Deniz two years ago when our youngest son was seven (and could't swim). We did the 6 stops boat trip from Olu Deniz. It was fantastic and the kids loved it. Can't remember who we booked it through, a company on the beach front. It was the boat with the waterslide......a bit steep. I went down just the once! Friends did the 12 island trip and said it was a very long day with the kids. We went on a Monday which is apparently the quitest day to go.

I just want to say thank you for all of your help we're nearly into single figures of days until we go and starting to finally look forward to it and getting into the holiday mood!

We always enjoy the boat to Gocek on sundays.It leaves about 11am from Fethiye, its about £3 each ,takes about 1 1/4 hour to get there then a 20 mins deep in the sea to cool down.You have dinner on the boat (£2 extra),stroll round Gocek market not at all busy but the same stuff as you get at fethiye and Hissaronu about 1 1/2 hours at Gocek, which is lovely.Then back on the boat(not to crowded) and it stops off about 3 times, twice it anchors up to pebble beaches so you can just wade in the other time you have to jump in .A really wonderful cheap day out.You usually get back about 6ish.I hope you try it.We dont bother with the other markets as this one is so pleasant.The harbour is lovely and I'm sure your son will enjoy looking at the big fancy yachts anchored up in Gocek.

that sounds like a brilliant boat trip, we go to fethiye on 8th june.
Just one really embarassing question how do you go about going to the loo? is there a loo on the boat?

most boats that do trıps from fethıye have at least one toılet on board there are plenty to choose from on the harbour all wıth good deals

there is a toilet on the boat.Never used it though!!I am sure that the both of you would be quite safe and hygenic! it is a really nice nice day out.Well worth it.We go 2 to 4 times a year with a 7 year old and she does not get feed up with the trip.We dont bother with the other markets as its all the same and if you book anyother trip (any)they might throw this trip in for free .Take it it's well worth it.It only goes from Fethiye though.

Help needed, I am stopping in Olu Deniz and would love to go on a boat trip, I have however had a fall and have got a hip injury at the moment so I am unable to walk too far although can do a little Icannot however clambour in boats too easy, any help suggesting a boat trip suitable for me. I am happy to sunabathe on board while my family swim etc.

I really wouldn't recommend taking a boat trip from the beach at Oludeniz - disembarking from them when they return is often extremely difficult. Hazardous even. The tide gets very choppy towards the evening and the waves smash into the gangplanks - sometimes throwing them up in the air. I've seen people clinging on to the handrails for their dear life while they've tried to keep their balance.

It doesn't happen every time, but if I were you I definitely wouldn't chance it. Your best bet would be to get a dolmus or taxi to Fethiye Harbour (20 minutes away) and pick up a boat trip from there. They have them leaving every day, usually about 11 o'clock, although some leave earlier. You can walk along the harbour and just choose which trip suits you. And you have no problems with embarking or disembarking.

Oh, and the harbour is a nice place to see anyway. In fact, if you do take a boat trip from there, it's always nice to get there early so that you can have a coffee or drink sitting by the harbour. Very peaceful and very picturesque.

There are loos on the boats, but they are usually extremely smelly places, and the floor is usually wet! I only go when absolutely necessary!

just wondering who you are traveling with cos first choice do a fab boat trip for the kids.

Its called a castaway cruise. There are kids reps on the boat and they entertain the kids all day. They did colouring and making things and played musical chairs and things while we chilled out, beautiful.

It was £17 so double the price of other trips but well well worth it, i would have paid double. it was my fave day of the holiday.

my lil boy had just turned 3 when we went last time and he LOVED swimming in the deep sea... they have life jackets and floats etc.
