I lived there for two and a half years whilst in the services, you may find it clostrophobic and spend your spare time up the coast as we did much of the time. Wages for the locals arent great but there was no work permit problems so it wasnt too bad, plenty of bar work etc and if your any good with computers then there is the off shore bookmakers who want good people. Cost of living And I am going back 7 years but petrol, cigs and booze etc were cheap as is cameras and computers as theyre tax free. the things that were expensive were those that were flown in from UK so hovis bread etc v expensive- everyone goes across to the market in La Linea for fresh food and there an enclosed market there which is good fo meat and fish. Overall a good deal cheaper than UK dont know about housing though as mine came with the job. If they go there to live a must visit regularly place is Bar Jimmys in La Linea- just get in a taxi the spanish side and ask for it they all know it, it is a tiny little Tapas place with food to die for and cheap booze.

Housing in Gibralter is VERY expensive. Many Gibraltarian friends of mine now live in nearby towns in Spain. There are no problems with living in Spain and working in Gibralter, other than the border queue.
