Oh and can I ask should you wear old swimwear??
The first one was the Dalyan River Cruise, where you visit the mudbath, and then cruise down to Patara beach.
The second one was on the Jeef Safari, where you visit a mud bath near Salikent Gorge.
I hated it!!! The one at Dalyan is particularly smelly!!! Its something i had to do once, but would never repeat, and it certainly didnt make me feel or look 10 years younger, which they claim.!!
Definately wear your oldest swim wear, it did stain and did not come out, i had to chuck my bikini out, it stank even after being washed!!!
Dont let me put you off, go for it if its something you want to do. it just wasnt for me!!!
We did the Dalyan trip with friends, when we got there I changed my mind, after seeing everyone splashing around in smelly mud,and I mean smelly!!.Decided to have a burger and cold drink at the bar instead,no regrets.
The hardest thing of all is trying to get all the mud out of your bits where the sun don't shine you can't be too modest when showering as its everyone together. It was so funny we didn't care.
the boat trip to dalyan , is that the one where you get taken to a lovley large beach where you get an hour or two to sunbathe and the waves are briolliant ?
I did not know it was called the patara beach
anyone know how to get there indepentley ?
Dan
You dont have to have an organized trip to visit the mud baths..it depends on where you are staying..if you are in Dalyan you can visit the baths and only pay for your entrance fee 4 lira...but if you are in Marmaris/Icmeler etc.it may pay you to go on an organized trip as it would work out cheaper than hiring a car or taxi to get to Dalyan. There are 2 mud baths at Dalyan one on the river and another one on the lake both with hot spring pools, out of the 2 the one on the lake is far better and a lot less busy..if you go along and dont fancy the mud you can always use the thermal pools, shower then have a drink it's a good day and you can have a laugh just watching the people acting like mud covered hippos i'll be there next week but only for the thermal pool its good for aches and pains....have fun ..WAKI xx
is it possible to get to patara beach indepently ?
It's not Patara beach, it's Iztuzu beach, otherwise known as Turtle Beach.
Dolmuses and taxi boats leave from Dalyan to Iztuzu beach, every day all day. The journey takes about 1/2 hour, and only costs a few lira.
They tell you that youll look 10 years younger after you have have been to the mud baths, has anyone ever found this to be true!!!.
Didn;t really enjoy the experience at all.
The second was this year, we were staying in Kalkan and went on a River canoeing trip adn at the end was a small area of mud which the group all went in and then washed off in the cold river water. It was a much better experience, not over crowded or hurried and much more fun
Weve been to the 2 different mud baths as well, the second this year was next to the lake,i dont get covered in mud but my daughter and her friend did, they then washed it all off in the lake, finishing off with a shower. This mud bath had a indoor swimming pool as well.It was a great day especially turtle beach which we would love to visit there just for a day trip, the only down side was the gold factory we had to visit afterwards. We were wearing old clothes, hair not looking too good and youre walking around all that gold, not a good idea really
