Oh my god, thanks Glynis, but it would seem that link is all about clean beaches, hotels or dusty roads, i was hoping more along the line of a turkish experience, I wanted to hear people getting passionate about their travels, maybe i should of opted for a week at clacton, apparently they have clean beaches and good pools but without the funny money :think

Just read your post and sorry to see no ones replied yet. I am just the same when my holidays getting close, I want to check out all the posts on here to get me in the holiday mood.

I haven't been to Altinkum I'm afraid but I've been to going to Turkey for the past 7 years, mostly to Olu Deniz and can give you some general Turkish highlights not to miss.

1. Turkish bath - a def for the ladies, the scrub gets your skin all silky smooth ready for that golden tan.
2. The traditional shave - for the men - supposed to be quite an experience with the hot towels and the flame they use to get rid of nose hair! (Not been so can't elaborate)
3. Water pipe. Sit and smoke the flavour tobacco pipes as the sun goes down. Great experience even if you don't smoke. Sometimes there are non tobacco verisions available. Makes some great photos.
4. Efes beer - fab beer!
5. All turkish food. The lamb, the Adana kebab, aubergine dishes, well everythings great.
6. Pancakes, filled with chocolate and bananas, or honey. These are made by the local ladies usually on small boats, they sail about and cook them to order while you wait.
7. Look out for the Turkish delight that is on sale in slabs, they cut slices off. This is much better than the stuff sold in boxes on the market. Also a nut slice.
8. The huge puff of bread you get served before you main meal comes. Served with flavoured butter, Don't eat too much of it save some room for your meal
9. Not sure whats available up at Altinkum but the rafting, paragliding and quad bikes are great days out.
10. Finally Turkish hospitality, which really should be No 1 as its this that really makes your holiday. Remember to learn some turkish before you go!

Hope you enjoy your holiday

This is probably a bit late but definatley go to the mud baths. We went via boat, on an all day trip. It left in the morning-ish, and took us the mud baths, which were awesome. A definate must-do.

Then we went to a fort/castle where we had lunch, then we went up the Dalyan river, where we saw the Lycian Tombs and finally we came to Turtle Beach! The water was a gorgeous sapphire blue, but wear flip flops when you walk down to the water, as the sand is like walking on a hot plate >.o
