Weve just booked to stay in Langkawi for 2 weeks form the 28th Dec.
We are staying at the Mutiara Burau Bay and wondered if anyone has stayed here, if so comments please???
We stayed at the berjaya resort which is just beside the mutiara, the beach at the berjaya is alot better, just walk along alittle and you will be on it.We ran up past the mutiara most mornings, and the resort looked nice, some chalets were right near the beach.
Just down the road is the cable car,and the oriental village ,which has a few resturants. We hired a car, driving is very easy, roads are so quiet,we drove all over the island, and went up to the datai beach, which was beautiful, also the tanjung rhu beach, white sands. There is not an awful lot to do on Langkawi, but we had a lovely time there, spotted loads of wildlife, and monkeys which run all over the roads.
Have fun suzy
I have asked for your hotel to be added to our reviews so hopefully someone can provide with its first review!
thanks Suzy , sounds like perfect place to chill out for two weeks after christmas - can't wait.
here it is ready for its first review!
well Youll love langkawi! I promise! a few things i would reccommend...
The Cable Car at the oriental village, just make sure you go on nice clear morning with no haze and youll get the most amazing views of Langkawi. Seven Wells is nice but it involves a lot of steps!! and beaware of the monkeys on your way up! Keep all bags over your shoulder else the monkeys might take a fancy to them!
Definatly hire a car for the day and explore! - as you probably know they drive on the same side as us and there are only about 4 different roads on the whole island expand in the town.
Make sure you go down to the harbour (near the petrol station) and have your dinner in Mare Blu a fabulous italian restaurant!!
If you're interested in seeing some pictures just PM me i have quite a few on my computer.
we went to langkawi a couple of years ago and found it wonderful. the people are lovely and i would go back again. we hired our own car and made our way around the island(which didnt take long!) along the way found some wonderful lagoons to swim in. some had locals around but they are nice people so it didnt bother us. would recommend this island to anyone.
We stayed at Mutiara Bay last Feb. We had our best holiday ever, and believe me, we have certainly travelled. Don't get me wrong, Mutiara is basic, but it is clean and the staff are lovely. You stay in a Cabana, which are basically detatched. The setting is lovely, and you must visit their Seashell bar on the beach, fabulous meals & live music a few times a week. Langkawi is a beautiful island, and you can get around easily & safely by motorbike (if you are happy to do so). You must visit the Bonton for dinner - it is wonderful & for an extra special treat book up to stay there - It is run by an Australian lady who has restored the typical Malay houses to a beautiful spec. The place is also an animal resuce centre, and although the dogs are kept away, the cats roam freely ( I love cats so I was happy, but I appreciate thats not everyone cup of tea!)
I really am jealous and cannot wait to go back! Also look out for the huge lizzard that lives behind the artificial waterfall & uses the pool as a shortcut - Enjoy, we certainly did. Say hello to boy the Brahmany kite!
welcome to HT!
From what you say I think we will really enjoy the holiday........ cant wait to go! Thanks again for info
Another Q for anyone who has stayed in this hotel................ Are there areas within the hotel for sitting reading say while the rain showers are on? Or is it a case of back to my cabana??!!
