hi guys, just got back from murcia and had a lovely time. we stayed with friends who live in a town called el algar, great base for exploring along the coast.
we picked the hire car up from the airport £63 for 6 days (bargain ). the airport at san javier is tiny, reminds me of blackpool airport, but very well situated.
all areas of murcia/valencia are so easy to drive round, the roads and motorways are relatively quiet until you get into valencia, then it gets really busy.
the places we visited were los alcazeres, lovely seaside resort, san pedro, another seaside resort with a great beach with playparks for kids all along the beach, los balones, a lovely little town, cartagena has a great shopping complex ( it poured down that day, hence going shopping ! ),
cabo de palis was again a lovely little town with a nice port, la manga we found a bit dissapointing although we went right to the end of the strip to look at all the fancy villas !
torrevejia was not too nice, bit of a concrete jungle.
campomoar was again a nice resort.
we really enjoyed having a go at speaking spanish as english is not really spoken much in this region of spain.
so, to sum up, if anybody wants a holiday in real spain, you can't go much wrong with the costa calida and many low cost airlines fly into san javier now, just bring your phrase book and a smile and you'll have a fab time !
