I will post a review of the Mavruka in the hotel section soon
Flights
We went with XL airways , left on time , cabin crew lovely , but I don't think I have EVER been as claustrophobic on a flight in my life , got through the airport at dalaman quick enough
Transfers
We had booked through Travel Republic and I would recommend NEVER doing that again , much much better to pay a bit more and have a transfer just for you waiting , we sat on a minibus in 24c for nearly two hours whilst the driver shouted and screamed with the a2b (yeslin dalysan) rep , then when we were in fethyie the driver pulled over , told us all to get out and we milled around on the pavement , this is at 3.30 in the morning , whilst yet more arguing carried on till it turns out that some people that they had checked onto the bus , should have been in Kalkan and Marmaris !!
Then we were put into another minibus and thankfully made it to the mavruka at just gone 4am , we had arrived at just before 1am...
Booked into Mavruka , very clean , very friendly
The holiday
Olu Deniz - Beer anywhere on the main strip and the front 5 lira for efes , you could find Tuborg at 4 lira at a couple of places , buy your water and pop , lollies etc from the Azda supermarket if you can they are more than half price cheaper than anywhere else , for example a little bottle of water is .25 and in the shops 0.50 , the big bottles 1.5 liter were 0.50 , although went from 0.39 to 0.50 to 0.75 by the time we left but still much cheaper than the shops , coke , fanta etc 1 lira as opposed to 2.5 or similar elsewhere
We went horse riding with easy riders , £12 each , very enjoyable although they set us all off without helmets and didn't understand English , we did the ride to the ghost town through the forest , really enjoyed it.
We drank in the tequila bar most nights and the fellas in there are first class , especially Ohan , if anyone's going say hello from Danny and Helen , he'll remember us ! , for night life we liked to go to n-joy the karaoke bar , which had a great little nightclub after 12...
The hassle is much better (as in less) as the years go by..
We went to the blue lagoon but we may be in a minority here but we thought it was vastly over rated , it was 3 lira each to get in , but we though it was cramped , not really that much better than the normal beach and fag butts and crisp packets everywhere , and the loungers are thinner so you have to let your arms drag onto the floor !! each to their own but it was nothing special imo
One thing we noticed is that many places including Azda sometimes don't give small change and just stare at you blankly when you ask for it , and shrug !
Also a lot of the hotels try and make you only buy there water etc , but in the Mavruka it was ridiculously expensive as try and sneak it in , everyone else was at it as well !
The weather was HOT , 35-40c , no breeze , we saw a little bit of cloud one day but it was a relief !
Transfer back was better and quicker so no complaints there
Any questions please ask !
I will post the MAVRUKA review later
Dan
Thanks for your review.
We stayed at the Marvuka last year and liked it so much we have rebooked for the hotel this year.
Warm wishes
Giff
good report danny boy
Glad you had a good time. You should have read other posts on here about the lagoon. The beaches on the otherside of the lagoon are much nicer and free. You can walk there, just carry on past on the right of the bit where you have to pay and the road takes you round the edge of the lagoon to Sugar beach, then Shuara Beach. Or you can get a free transfer to them and back to your hotel.
The Suara beach is now called Sea Horse, with caravans to rent.
