My son has now 5 stitches..now 3 hr delay coming home oh joy

My other post was shop keepers my son had bad experience was sworn at....

Now this morning he phoned he has hit his head on bottom of pool coming off the water slide at the gran pasa hotel..covered in blood his girlfriend screaming,doctor took him ,5 stitches, now the thomas cook rep said they are not covered and have to pay £200 they have £20 left.
The doctor has his provisional licence...
My son still has his passport.....he dont know what to do...and is frieghtened they wont let him leave turkey on thursday....
They cant wait to get home it was there 1st holiday....

Any advise welcome

i would get them to take as many photos as possible of his injury and the slides etc, get any statements of witnesses to this accident, especially if he wasnt fooling around and he needs to phone his holiday insurance company, surely they will cover the costs, he also needs to fill in a hotel accident report .

if you want any specialist help then phone ros the recommended solicitor to find out exactly what else needs doing, what a shame this has happened

Thanks very much his rep said they cant help because he did not use their doctor the insurance will not cover....but when your covered in blood you dont think to say hang on ill call thomas cook ,you just want help...they are young and dont know what to do...but i will tell him to take pictures.and get witnesses.
I think he is more worried he will be stopped from leaving turkey because he can not pay..

Has anyone actually contacted the insurance company? I wouldn't necessarily rely on the word of the rep, she/he may be right if it's t/C insurance and they know all the ins and outs, but I'd be inclined to speak to the insurance people direct. It seems a bit odd that insurance would be invalid unless you saw a specific doctor. Most people in a situation like that would see the doctor on site rather than travel to a nominated person, so it's a bit rough if they won't pay. What do the terms and conditions of the insurance say?

To be honest it is normal in Turkey to have to pay upfront and then claim on your return, so I hope you find a way to get them sorted out.

Good luck, I hope it doesn't put them off for life!!

is his holiday insurance with tc then or is the holiday a tc hotel or both, a bit confused. if he wants to make any sort of claim here for this injury if its not his fault and he wasnt messing around etc then he must make out a holiday accident report and get proof off the dr that treated him to what they needed to do , a receipt etc. i would contact ros and ask for her advice so you know where you stand . her number is 01922633214, shes helping me with an injury and problems from my holiday at the moment

All my son said is that he did not see the thomas cook doctor,they should of rang a number for one of there own doctors...but the hotel had allready gone and got the hotel doctor because there was soo much blood.

That sounds like the rep not knowing to me. If you speak to him, tell him to ring his insurance company, they should be able to sort it out for him.

if you use the doctoe that a holiday firm use it will be a lot cheaper if i'm right i know it happened to a couple of people when we were in altinkum they phoned the number the rep gave them and the doctor came in a taxi took them to hopsital and brought them back,as far as i know they paid £50 and then could claim it back that included taxi docor and treatment.

My son had an accident on holiday in Lara Antalya last year, (Thomas Cook holiday) the hotel doctor was called and he was taken to hospital. We had to pay upfront, (they took his passport until they had payment)but the holiday insurance paid up quickly when we returned home. I am sure there will not be a problem getting the insurance to pay up once he is home. Is there anyway you can ring the insurance company on his behalf and see what they say? I'm sure the TC rep is wrong in what he/she says, and that you don't have to use one of 'their' doctors at all.! What if the accident happened away from the hotel? in the local town for instance? are they saying you wouldn't be covered? I can't see that being correct at all! He needs to get his provisional licence back as well! Try ringing TC and see what they say.

I have rang thomas cook looks like he can claim..but having to send money £200 upfront untill he gets home....oh well...sorted....hopei have more luck in turkey next week.... :cheers

Your poor son is not having a very good holiday is he

Sometimes reps either say things that aren't true because they only want you to do things through them or otherwise they don't know what they are talking about. If he has taken out insurance of course he will be covered, whichever doctor sees him. It is normal to pay up front and claim back but at least he has mum to help him out.

I hope you have a better holiday, I'm sure you will. Then you can tell your son how wonderful Turkey can be

Ok i payed £270 in his bank today the final bill was £245.The doctor is now paid and he has permission to fly.
The doctor gave reciepts andsaid should all be ok to claim when he gets home.wink,wink.
I must admit the medical care was brilliant,he was well cared for so praise for the doctor there.
So itold him to enjoy his last night in turkey and stay safe !!!

kids are a constant worry even when they are older, im sure as long as hes got receipts he will be ok, i would also ask him to fill out an accident report with the rep just to be on the safe side, i did on my last holiday but because i didnt have dr receipt im having problems ,the solicitor told me i needed both for my particular claim

he has not had much luck at all , he will need another holiday just to get over this one maybe some one will give him a nice chrissy pressie of a relaxing holiday somewhere
