I have also done AOA but Half Board not Self Catering. I have never had a bad experience and usually got good hotels but we were a family. It just depends where they have spaces. Sometimes it is to the best Hotels as I think maybe they were too dear for people to book on a Package. You will be treated the same as any other holiday maker. Only difference is you can't complain if they put you somewhere unsuitable as they will tell you it is AOA and if you wanted something else you should have booked named accommodation. Karen

Having worked for them I can say they will probably fill their largest allocations first, so you "may" end up in somewhere like the Bellevue in Alcudia, or the Bouganvilla in Sa Coma.

We must have been unlucky then. Did AOA once, ended up in Bouganvilla in Sa Coma. Kids had to pay for childrens club and only then were allowed in if spaces available. We also ended up in a studio, three pull out beds and travel cot which basically took up the whole of the kitchen. When we complained we were basically told "you take you chance if you go allocated on arrival". We also found out that the room was only legally insured for 3 people. Tried to take it up with the wonderful Airtours and got nowhere.

If it had just been me and hubby wouldn't have been that bad but after that we took no chances.

Good luck!!

We booked aoa 3 star hotel half board, for the 2 of us,and we were allocated also at Bouganvilla park in Sa Coma, now if it was a young family you may like it, we had a tiny studio with a pull out bed that blocked us getting on to the balcony, room was only cleaned 2 times, only 2 star in my opinion, and the restarant with little choice and poor quality food,I did not think it was a good choice for a couple on mytravels part, certainly not a hotel, more like Butlins in Spain,so we wont be doing a sundeal again.

We have booked this type of holiday quite a few times now, always end up in a reasonably good place. We always usually find ourselves on the east coast of majorca for some reason! We now know the route from the airport to the east coast off of the back of our hands!

We have ended up in Porto Colom twice - very nice but very quiet resort!

We ended up in Bonaire hotel in Cala Bona a couple of years ago - we were very lucky that time as that was a 4* hotel and we loved it!

Last year we ended up in the Bouganvilla in Sa Coma! we were not happy as it was very child orientated and as it was only me (18) and my mum (in her 40s) it was not suited towards us! The apartment was also a joke! it was a studio with a tiny kitchen and a couch with about an inch between it and the single bed! but anyway, on our second day we managed to transfer hotels to the Ferrera Blanca apartments in Cala Ferrera/Cala D'or for a certain amount of money! and we had the best time in these apartments and the resort was brill too!

So you should be ok with this type of deal and if you dont like where you end up you may have the option of transferring (at the discretion of the reps!) but it can cause alot of stress and money!
