if you are worried about you card getting swallowed, add someone else on to the account, it is easy enough to do, and then you will have two cards to take with you!

nationwide have an ATM locator on their website

I informed my bank that I would be using the card whilst I was in Turkey.

Gave them the dates and a mobile number I would be using in Turkey.

When I made a purchase, guess where they rang? my landline in

England!!!! Son told them I was in Turkey Oh they said she should have

given us a mobile number we could ring GRR!!! Played hell with them

when I got back. That was in May, in July when we went back to Turkey

same thing happened. I give up!!!!!

Denny,

You can't make purchases with a Nationwide Flex cashcard You must have the VISA Flex Account: and going by all these problems with using it abroad, I'd get rid of it!

I have never had to inform my bank I'm going abroad; and I've never had a problem getting cash from an ATM, or buying purchases with my VISA card.

If I were you I'd change banks! I wouldn't put up with all that!

I wouldnt get rid of it, its the only card that doesnt charge for using abroad and also gives the best currency exchange rate.

Well I don't understand it; I never use my Natonwide Flex account card in the UK - only when abroad - and I've never had a problem withdrawing cash from an ATM.

Same here - never tell the bank either that I am going abroad.

The only problem I have is that I have before now, got my Visa and Flex cards mixed up because I only use them when abroad... and that has led to a very expensive cash withdrawl  (especially since the Visa card has "CASH REWARD" across it)

Was that a Nationwide FlexAccount card you were using or from another bank? It's not clear from your post.

Lucy It was the Visa flex account. I don't think there is any point informing bank that you will be using card abroad as they don't take any notice when you do.!!!! Denny
