The short transfer certainly rules out most of the less touristy destinations but Kos is a possibility. We stayed in Kefalos some years ago and enjoyed it.
Good Luck with your search
Hi we stayed in Argassi in Zante at the Windmill studios. Only about 20 mins from airport, not a little village but not disco heaven! Just enough restaurants to eat out, mini go karts for the kids and two mini golf courses, also a little train which runs twice a day to Zante town, which again is not crowded. Highly recommended, if the kids are happy, we're happy!!
You might like to consider Parga
Parga is a resort located in a harbour with some hills on one side and a castle standing on a hill guarding the harbouur on the other, very picturesque.
Several beaches leading gently in to the sea including one in the main town area and others accessible via small water taxis or by foot.
Many excellent Taverna's for eating in located both along the harbour front and also in the back streets.
Many of the apartments have their own pool and from personal experience I can highly recommend the Villa Andreas bookable via First Choice or take a look HERE

The existing Parga thread has some good info http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=75341
You don't say when you are thinking of going to Greece so I will just mention that July & August can be busy in Parga with Italians so it is best to avoid that time if possible.

ps - here are some reviews of Parga http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/reviews/greece/epirus/parga/ & http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/reviews/greece/epirus/parga/%20Town (Admin might want to combine the 2 reviews as they are the same resort)
pps as Shirley also suggest Kassiopi on Corfu is also nice and I would recommend there, again has some nice beaches and a castle / fort with a nice walk around the headland also a small harbour with nice.
Plenty of choice of Taverna's with some really excellent Greek food I can recommend Janis Restaurant, Petrino's & Strofolio.
The transfer is not overly long about an hour so should be fine with the kids.
This existing post will help you with information, I got a lot of help from it http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=36108&hilit=kassiopi
Reading the posts initially I was a little concerned that Kassiopi might be too British but we were pleasantly delighted to see that it still retains a lot of local charm as you will read in the later posts.

We went to Lesvos a couple of years ago and had one of the best holidays ever. We stayed at the Hotel Votsala, a lovely place, very un-commercial. Have a look at their website http://www.votsalahotel.com/. The staff are charming, the location is idyllic, it's only 20 minutes by taxi from the airport (costs 20 euros each way). There were lots of families there with young pre-school children who were having the time of their lives despite the fact there's no TV or play-groups, just lots of open space and the beach and the sea. The hotel staff also organise lots of really interesting outings and walks.
Highly recommended.
Jock.
