Not gone yet and having trouble! Booked with a travel agent to go to hotel in menorca, we booked over 12 months ago a superior room. There was no supplement because that was the only rooms they used at this hotel. Now 3 weeks before we go they are saying that sorry you will now have a standard room, but all the rooms have been upgraded, but I have been to the hotel before and this is not true, the superior rooms are bigger. They will not guarantee that we can have the room type we want (or booked), they have offered us a full refund or if we go give us £50.00. We want the holiday, but with the room we booked. Can someone give us some advice?
They are fulfilling their contractual obligation by refunding you all monies paid. You may be due further compensation depending on when you travel (see the Ts and Cs as to how much it is per person).
Also if the TO only used superior rooms at this hotel then won't you have paid for them upfront? As I would imagine you may have done. If so would £50 be the difference in price as it doesn't sound much?
