heading here on Saturday, ive read the past reports but just have one question about it.
Do you get the sun on the balcony in the evening?
We were at the pelicanos last year and there was no sun on our balcony from about 3pm it was annoying as we love to sit and relax in the sun up there in the evening and couldnt do it last year. Fingers crossed that we can this year.
Can anyone tell me if the Hotel Nereo is all British? We stayed at the Riudor last new year and thoroughly enjoyed it as it was all British. You need this when you have to be seated with other people for the meal on New Years eve . We would love to go back to the Riudor but Thomson are not flying from our airport on a convenient day for us, and the Riudor can only be booked through them.
We went to the Nereo last year and I'm sure it was all English.
Thanks Sue, I thought I had seen somewhere that it was all Brit but couldn't remember where. I hope you have a good time in October.
The Hotel Nereo is advertised on Spanish sites, so I cannot imagine that it will be exclusively British.
The Ruidor is exclusively British because Thomson have the monopoply on the hotel, just like the Regente, however,we did have a group of Spaniards in the hotel Regente for a couple of nights, they must have booked direct with the hotel and they were like fish out of water

Most hotels that I have stayed in over Xmas, they do try and seat all the "English" together and the Spanish together when the gala seating plan is available to book.
I personally do not like this and in the hotel Los Dalmatas it seems like "us and them"...us in one part of the restaurant and them seated in the other end.
After dinner, the British go downstairs in the concert room and the Spanish stay upstairs....the Spanish are obviously out numbered and quite frankly, unless they want to join in with the British, then it is a case of make your own fun, like it or lump it....which I think is soooo wrong
The hotels are catering for the masses...that being the British
Luckily, they bring in a DJ playing Spanish music ...all the latest pop songs and the Spanish really know how to enjoy themselves without getting blitzed.
This is just my view, so don`t anyone get offended.....
I`m going back this Xmas and there is no way that I want to be sat amongst the British...my hubby cannot speak a word of Spanish apart from the Hola, Adios, por favor and Gracias, but even he prefers to sit amongst Spaniards, and you would be very suprised to learn how many of them speak and understand English, even though they don`t let you know.....until you speak with them.
I`m sorry, but this segregation method upsets me greatly and does nothing to bring together the people of two Nations at a very religious and festive time.
I had great fun organising the Spanish into a circle with arms crossed and singing Auld Lang Syne last year, they hadn`t a clue what I was doing or singing, but all credit to them, they eagerly joined in and everyone embraced each other at the end.
I accept their tradition of grapes and cava at midnight (Spanish time) and an hour later they acknowledged mine.
But, as I said, this is just my view and I respect yours.

I didn't mean segregate the Spanish people, I just meant at the same table as I dont speak a lot of spanish and would like to have a conversation without waving my hands around like a mad woman , on saying that, I usually can make myself understood even if they dont speak a word of english but arm waving throughout a meal just isn't done I have stayed in other mixed nations hotels in Benidorm at other times of the year and don't have a problem with any nationality. One hotel me & hubby stayed in on the Costa del sol, in the space of two weeks, we sat with Russian,Turkish,English,Belgian and Dutch and really enjoyed trying to talk to them.
What I dont understand Sanji, is if you dont like what the Dalmatos do, why go back there ?OH and by the way I dont get blitzed either as I dont drink and hubby only drinks in moderation.
I wasn`t implying that you get blitzed, it was just a general statement that compared to the British, the Spanish don`t seem to want to get as much down their necks on the free bar after the meal....from my observations.
I didn't mean segregate the Spanish people, I just meant at the same table
I know what you meant and segregating at the table is what I was referring too, I personally see no reason to do this...mix and match is what I would prefer, but I did say this is just my view.
Why do I go back to the Dalmatas ?
Well, I like the staff, food, the hotel, the location and the excellent gala meals.
I just love it when the Spanish arrive for the new year fesitives....some of whom have been going each year since I started going, I think this will be the 4th time on the trot in the Dalmatas and they remember me and visa versa.
I have the Dalmatas to thank for gaining two friends who live in Getafe, a suburb of Madrid and meeting them during the gala meal 4 years ago....
Lolo introduced my hubby to the delights of "chin-chon dulce" to ease the discomfort of over indulgence.....they will be there again, God willing.
I could go into an all Spanish hotel, but unless the standards dropped in the Dalmatas, then I see no reason to change and I am quite happy to spend my time with the Spanish in this cosmopolitan hotel....although since the smoking ban, I will admit to giving this some consideration.
Finding an all Spanish hotel in the same location with the same standards will take some finding, I don`t want to be in the old town because I like to walk up there each day and for some bizzare reason (which I cannot explain) would not like to do it the other way around.
I think unless you find an all Spanish or British hotel, then the seating plans for most hotels are the same as the Dalmatas unless you specify differently....but if people are insisting that they sit at the same table as fellow brits, for whatever reason, then that is still segregation....sorry

Sometimes the Spanish segregate themselves. When we stayed in the Venus even if there was only us two( me & hubby) in the lift, they would wait for the next one . We could never persuade them we were quite safe to get in the lift with. I just wish I had never started this topic as you seem hell bent on making an issue out of a simple question. I like spanish people, I have been going to Spain since the early 70's we just wanted to spend new year in company we could talk to as we usually spend it looking at each other across our living room at home.

I do not think an apology is necessary as I am in total agreement with you. I cannot really add anymore to this as you have already said all there is to say really. But I too would prefer not to be segregated at the Gala Christmas & New Year Meals. Or at any other time to be perfectley honest.
I wish people would get things straight in here, I was not asking to segregate the Spanish people, all I asked was about an all Brit hotel and that would mean NO segregation at all.

Hi Serena. I do not think anyone has misunderstood the point you made, I certainly never. But I was merely replying to the comments made about segregation in the Dining Rooms by Sanji and was saying that I am agreement with her. But with all due respect, this thread is about the Hotel Nero in Benidorm, so maybe we should try and get back on topic?

I have stayed in the Venus on a few occasions and I have also noticed this practice. But in other Hotels I have stayed in, the Castillia for example, the Spanish do not seem to mind travelling in the lift with us Brits. (Opps....sorry just went back )
the nereo is definately not all british, there was portugese and spanish there 2 weeks ago when i was there but it is a great hotel and id definately go back there.
Me again just trying to sort next years holiday out within our budget. Have found this full board for £1035 anyone know anything about it. Will be travelling with hubby and an 11 year old not bothered about entertainment will be out every night. Is food, rooms ok.
The rooms were great too, the air conditioning works non stop if you want it on and it gets really cold in your room too! Sky tv in room and we even got to see corrie on ITV.
Staff lovely, one waitress especially was so friendly to my son. Only had a problem with the older lady on reception. Lifts kept breaking down but were fixed soon after.
Pool is great, shaded area with tables and chairs and outdoor bar. Kiddies pool just big enough and the big pool is average size but very clean.
Get your towels on the sunbeds early though if you want a bed there.
I would go back again definately.
Where in Benidorm is this hotel have looked on benidorm hotelmap and it says it is round the corner from the indoor market or near abouts. Have got direct holidays holiday map and it is pointing it out nearer the old town
Benidorm Levante map, it is highlighted by the number '40' on grid reference 'M11'.

It's on Avenida Ametlla de Mar, opposite the indoor market. If you check out our Our reviews of Hotel Nereo can be found on THIS page.

Thanks David
Anybody else been to this hotel recently, have narrowed it down to this hotel and hotel orange and cannot decide between the two. We like to laze around the pool during the day, dont really want to be getting up early doors for a sunbed, like decent food is the food ok.
We were in the Nereo in November last year and we think it is a great hotel and we are going back in October. The food is good, the rooms always clean and the staff are friendly. We didnt sit around the pool much and we didn't stay in for the Entertainment. The area is good as there is plenty of entertainment within 10 mins walk, the beach is close by and so are the buses. We have friends who go there every year.
We have stayed in the Orange a couple of times and it is equally good but is in a much busier area, being on the Square.
Regards Sue
Just back from the Nereo and it was brilliant, the food is excellent, entertainment is not that brilliant but watchable. I liked its situation just opposite the indoor market and not too far from the outdoor market. It was spotless and the staff were helpful and friendly. I was at the Nereo a few years ago and it was good then but it seems to have gotten even better.
