Hi there
I'm looking to go away to a greek island in August (usually go to Kefalonia but fancy a change!) and wondered if anybody could please give me some advice on Rethymnon.
I am looking for somewhere that is centrally located, close to a sandy beach (I have M.E so it's important everything is within walking distance) and that has the option of some day trips if i feel up to it.
I was considering Kos but think Rethymnon looks lovely too. Can anybody advise what the beaches are like near to the Hotel Ideon please? Any help very much appreciated. Thank you!
Lou
The Ideon is quite a walk from the "Town beach" so probably not a good bet for you. It's handy for the old town and harbour though.
I have a similar question. We are staying at the Eveline apartments in Rethymon or near by in September. As we haven't been to Crete before I'm wondering if it will be too near a town. We have been to Skiathos several times and other Greek islands and like the beach a lot of the time.
Looking at the Thomson site the Eveline is in Platanos about 4 miles out of Rethymnon. This coastal strip is pretty developed, but there is plenty of beach!
