Just got back from a week in the Algarve. The purpose of the trip was to find a suitable place to buy a holiday home. The only places we liked were Vilamoura and Luz. Problem with Luz is it's a long way from the airport.
Which kind of only leaves Vilamoura Marina!
And then only the area directly on or west of the marina (eg. the Lake resort).
Question is...Does anyone know what's happening to the area to the Northwest of the marina. The agent selling new apartments nearby says there will be a new development of big houses with private moorings. Is this definitely going ahead?

Yes there is a extention to the marina planned in vilamoura it is giong to add around 1000 berths and there are plans approved for it all there will be a number of new comeercial areas and a further 6000 properties built in the general vicinity of the new marina. It is being built by the prasa group which own vilamoura at a cost of 750 milliion euros
