*waves hello*
wondering if the good folk on this forum will help me to choose a resort. First time in Menorca, we're a young(ish) couple, looking for a week's holiday to Menorca.
what we'd like out of our holiday. Not too far from the airport (no more than an hour on coach) a resort which isn't rowdy with teengers drunk on half of san miguel but isn't too quiet that you can hear a pin drop. My partner insists on going AI much to my dismay, but I will drag him out of the hotel to see what the resort has to offer. a nice sandy beach would be a bonus. Our children are grown up so we dont particularly want to be over run with kiddies but appreciate that Menorca is a family destination. In a nutshell we want a relaxing week away AI but with the option of a few lively(ish) bars and good quality restaurants to break the monotomy of the AI atmosphere of the hotel. We dont plan on hiring a car, but it would be good to know if there are any trips/boat trips worth a visit
From what i've read i've got the following impressions from the resorts
cala n bosch quite lively but 1 hour 30 mins from airport
son bou has the longest beach (dont kno much more than that)
cala galdana relaxing atmosphere but stuck inbetween an ugly hotel and ugly car park
cala n porter 20mins for the airport lively with a cave disco, beach has lots and lots of steps but has a mini train (not sure how many steps or what the
beach is like)
cala n forcat & los delfines lively but rubbish beach
Please feel free to add your own thoughts to the resorts as I really dont have a clue which one will suit
thank you in advance
Cala'n Bosch - transfer is up to 1hr and 1/4 - has never taken more than an hour for us.
Cala Galdana - yes there's a big hotel on the front (Sol Gavilanes) but the resort setting and beach is stunning.
I would suggest you look at Google Earth Street View as this will give you a good insight to what's in each resort but do bare in mind the shots were taken out of season so it does look a bit drab as it had obviously been raining that day!
I don't think you'll find any drunken teenagers in Menorca. Well I've never seen any
Cala n Bosch
Sorry pressed enter by mistake. Cala n Bosch ticks the box, i've been twice and will be returning next year.
We are going to Cala 'n Bosch next month with teenage kids. Went to Cala Galdana a few years ago, beautiful resort and beach but not enough going on for older kids. Going AI but will be out and about in the resort too. Cala 'n Bosch is a short bus ride to Cuitudella so will be spending some time there.
the hotel playa azul has caught my eye in cala 'n' porter, the only thing that concerns me is that there doesn't seem to be any entertainment on, which is a tad bit unusual for an AI hotel. The views do look amazing though. Does anyone know if there's any bars in the resort with entertainment on? there's only so many card games you can play in a week!
