Have to be honest i have never heard of new port richey checked a few web sites seems to be nice and quiet im just wondering how long you are going for and if you considered say doing a week at the theme parks and week there seems a shame you go all that way and dont go to the parks,

New Port Richey is a very quiet town about 25 miles north of Clearwater.My friend stayed here after a week at the theme parks.I prefer Clearwater or St Petersburg but if you look on google theres lots of information on NPR to help you decide if its right for you.Its a long way to go if you just want a quiet week in the sun.

Thanks for your replies. We were thinking of hiring a car and driving to Disney Land and Busch Gardens from NPR. We do want to visit theme parks etc but would prefer to spend most of our days by the beach etc relaxing, going out on a night to bars/restaurants with a few days sight seeing and visting the parks. As I've never been to Florida I am having difficulty finding the best base for the holiday.St Petersburg and Clearwater both look very nice so these may be a possibility.

If you were based on the Gulf coast it would be a bit far to drive back and forwards to Orlando each day to visit the parks there.You could always check into a hotel for a couple of days in Orlando.I always go on a Fly drive which is great as you can just please yourself and move around after a few days.There are plenty of motels that you can just walk in and if you have the booklet Florida on the Go you can get good discounts with the coupons inside.If its your first visit I would read through the American forum for helpful hints and advice.
