We've managed to come up with a compromised solution and hopefully it covers both the needs of the mods and admins as well as the members.
As I've stated before these topics are a huge benefit to the mods and admins and we use them many times a day.
we attempted to hide them from members within the forums in order to benefit the members but unfortunately there is a consistent bug which we have been unable to overcome. We have therefore had to reintroduce the topics back into the forums.
However, we have been able to remove the topics from the "View new posts" page as requested and have also removed them from the RSS feeds so users of both these systems will no longer see the markers.
