Butlins has opened its new "tween" concept hotel - the £25 million Wave hotel and Apartments.

The new complex which marks the most significant investment since Sir Billy Butlin set up camp in 1936, boasts Games Port, Kindle library, Wii consoles, iMacs, iPod docks and PS3s.

There is also sports coaching, a funfair, Splash Waterworld and live entertainment.

Allan Lambert, head of retail sales said: "Our research tells us that families want flexibility and freedom whilst on holiday, so this guided our strategy to offer a mix of self-catered apartments and hotel rooms."
