You generally pay more at this time because of the holidays and accommodation is let that much quicker, with the domestic traveller from Mumbai and Delhi. I can never rest once home in January until I know that I am booked again - can't now imagine New Year in cold old Blighty!
Always expensive at that time of year but you may want to try southalltravel.com we use them a lot and they seem to be reasonable.
We actually live here in Goa but we are coming back to the UK with Virgin via Mumbia and that cost us £460 return we leave Goa on the Wednesday 22nd August and will be on my annual pilgrimage on the Friday morning 7.30am boarding the coach for the Rugby league final full weekend and will be staying in Oxford(coach leaves from Sale Cheshire) CAN'T WAIT.
Hope your travel plans work out.
Mike
I think the trick is is to book early. I booked in Jan for this Xmas and paid £579 pp for the flight booking direct with the Airline. The accommodation's costing just over £700 for a 3 week stay.
