Sorry, I know that this is the UK thread, but might I suggest Paris ......... loads of fireworks on New Year's Eve!!

Alternatively you might find that a posh hotel has a 'do' with fireworks at midnight in the UK ........

You don't say what part of the UK you are in or how far you want to travel.
Down here in Weymouth we do Fancy Dress but no organised fireworks that I can think of.

We did Newcastle a few years back now and with the prospect of amazing New Year festivities we travelled up only to experience some of the most extreme weather I have ever seen in the UK. Suffice to say the fireworks were cancelled (as were a lot of others that year) but it was still a fun time with plenty of great bars and a good atmosphere. I still can't believe to this day we were in the All Bar One (or was it Slug and Lettuce) on the Quayside drinking next to Dec (of Ant & Dec).

I would love to go back to Newcastle again, this time though I would be wrap up warmer. It was seriously cold.

Alternatively how about my home city of Norwich. Very up and coming destination, lots of great pubs and restaurants, major attractions such as the cathedral and castle, and always plenty planned by the local council on NYE including a great firework display which practically lights up the whole city.

Norwich used to suffer from a severe lack of city centre hotel options but that has since been fixed with two Premier Inn's, a Travelodge and a Holiday Inn by the football ground opening up in the past few years. I would certainly recommend somewhere within walking distance, because getting a cab after midnight on NYE/NYD is seriously difficult.

If you (or anybody) needs any further advice on Norwich please let me know. :tup
