The problems with cash liquidity in the market are intensifying, since apart from the ongoing bank employees' strike, which has been extended until Tuesday, the security guards at delivery/collection services have joined in the collective actions.

As a result, ATMs throughout the country will not be refilled.

In the meantime, on Monday the Parliament's Plenary Session will open the discussion on the banks' social security reform and OTE's voluntary redundancy plan. After his meeting with the Greek PM on Saturday, Giorgos Alogoskoufis declared that the liquidity problems in the market are already huge, while the Government, in collaboration with the Union of Greek Banks, is examining measures to facilitate banking transactions. Furthermore, to avoid the danger of having cheques stamped and charged with default interest, the Minister of Economy and Finance is looking at implementing measures, which will be announced on Tuesday.

On Sunday noon, dock workers at the Piraeus Port decided to postpone their announced strike, from Monday until Wednesday, as an act of good will from their part in order to reopen dialogue with the Piraeus Port Organisation and the Mercantile Marine Ministry.
