Hi, Sadly the questions are not for me but for my friend who is going to Fuerteventura at the end of the year and it will be their first visit. I have been a few times (last visit 2006) and have stayed in Calete de Fuste x 3 & Corralejo x 1 but my info is probably out of date now.
They would like a chill out holiday but with facilities on the doorstep. My first thought would be Corralejo but I know that Calete de Fuste has grown over the years so would this area now be on par with Corralejo?
Could I also have some advice on car rental and accommodation, preferably privately owned accommodation with heated pool & wifi. They are on a budget though so the preferences may be exceeding their budget.
Last but not least, they are smokers....is there a smoking room/area at the airport for departures?

gesnians...............Hi there.............I know nothing about the resort that you mention, but sadly the issue of smoking ie smoking ban from 2nd january 2011 is one in which we have decided to cancel our holidays to spain this june as we now find our hotel is now no smoking policy, including our usual bars/ resturants ( excuse spelling )..............Its looking like a bit of a no no for smokers in spain, if not perhaps or perhaps not where they bed down but on the ususual day to day activities.................there is a thread http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=149646 ref the no smoking ban being tightened up.................I have spent a little while reading the ex pat papers in spain on this subject, which seems even before the season starts gonna be a " Biggy " when it does with holiday smokers, never mind the spanish people them selves...........
