You shouldn't have a problem with not using the inbound portion of your flight. However, you need to inform your rep in resort to make sure they know about you not returning with them so they aren't waiting for you on the airport tansfer and they can inform handling agents at the airport so they won't be waiting for you to check-in.

I was just going to say the same thing as Darren Chris about telling the rep .

The only thing I can think of is when you do a search for a" one way" fare with easy/ryanair it could be a bit higher than the price you get for the return leg on a "return" search. does that make sense

It Can Sometimes Work Out Cheaper If You Book The Flight And Hotels Seperatly, If Offers The Same Services As The Package Holidays, (I've Done It With Thomsons, Booked Return Flights With Thomsonfly, And 2 Seperate Accomodations, Normally Offered As Package Holidays With Thomsons, It Worked Out Cheaper Than If I Had Booked The Package Holidays).

And That Way As Well Allows You To Do Anything From 3 Days Onwards In The Hotels And Most Lo-Co Airlines Offer Flights On A Daily Basis.

The Only Thing You Don't Get Normally Is A Tansfer From the Airport To Your Hotel And Back

Typically with Ryanair / Easyjet there is no flight premium to pay if you only book a one way flight.

The only real impact on booking a flight back to the UK will be that it will be costed in the currency of the country you are flying from - you will then pay the airlines conversation rate to GBP + of course any other charges that they may levy regarding booking fees.

Done it a few times. Booked a cheap package for a villa with flights, then moved to another villa after the week discarding package return flight, so that we did 11 days in villas. Booked seperate flight home with whoever is cheapest. As others said informed package company reps we would not be using the package return flight as a courtesy.

I often fly to spain with one company and back with another. One tip I've learnt is that (where possible and definitley with easyjet) start your booking by looking at return flights, and then remove the outbound flight as its often cheaper.

I recently booked an outbound flight with BMI and only needed the return. When I looked at easyjet, the price was in euro's due to the starting point being Spain and was about 88euros (basic price), easyjet allow you to change the currency and it came out at about £75. However, if I selected an outbound and return, and then removed the outbound, the price was £65 for the return! Its obviously due to the currency conversion rates that are built in, but I'd rather have the £10 in my pocket!!!

Thanks for the brilliant extra tips Louise as I have not done this before, will look at booking a return and deleting the outbound. I'm always happy to save a tenner, especially as it's x 4.

Sunbear I am trying to do exactly what you state ie week in a villa and then add something on to this DIY and book a return flight only.

Should be OK for transfers as should have a hire car for duration.

If I do this I will remember to inform the company that I wont be using the inbound.

Just to clarify.......... you only look at the outbound flight options, don't book them! With easyjet you remove the outbound almost immediately after asking to see it.
