Not stayed in the new part, but stayed in SP in September, we ate at the harbour at Da Vinci's restaurant which was good. Neuva is a lot quieter than Santa Ponsa, which is a good thing, costs 4 euros in a cab in to SP and about 35 euros to the airport.

Did you book a taxi before your holiday, or are there taxi rank at the Airport. Not sure of the best way to do it.

Any recommendations?

We hired a car, we always do because it saves on taxi fares to and from the airport, and we like to have a tour around the island as well.

There is always plenty of cabs at the airport but if you prefer to prebook, just google "taxis mallorca" and I'm sure you'll find what you need.
