no your wife wan't have a nightmare of a holiday! Plenty of dishes to choose from. Not sure if your hotel is in a part that was affected by the tsunami but one of my friends was over there at Christmas and wouldn't have known there had been a tsunami apart from the fact that many people were over there on a pilgrimage and she heard some very sad stories.

just had a look at your hotel( looks fantastic) and see it is at patong beach. This was the area where the tsunami struck but I do know that things are up and running again. I have asked for your hotel to be added to our reviews incase someone has been and can give some info on it.
