Yes, you will definitely need a torch. The area around the Oceanique is well lit but on the beach and small roads it would help. Don't forget to take one. Take toilet paper and tissues when you go out as well.
To see all the activity of the fishermen etc is very close to the Oceanique. Out of hotel ,turn left towards the beach and it is a very very short walk to the beach area where they are. Takes about 3 mins. The tides etc do make a difference with times. Generally get there about 6.30 to 7am and you will see a lot. You will also see local people putting their own nets out as well but all this only happens early morning.
Get back to the hotel about 8am for start of breakfast with a healthy appetite!
Glycerine or resin in the beer? That's what it is , is it? I could only drink about 2 bottles of 650ml Kinfisher. It is nice but does taste a bit different. In the Hotel 650ml bottles of Fosters is sold which is OK.

A couple of times close to the hotel down the road to the right I saw quite a few kids playing cricket with all the gear. They did not do this last time I was there back in December so I suppose it could be the equipment you gave!
Rob.
If you have any questions then just fire away. No worries at all.
Extra things to take. I would suggest a small first aid kit with good plasters and some antiseptic cream. Lip balm as well would be a good idea. Possibly some paracetamol. You can get all these things out there but it is nice to have them to hand when you need them.
All the hints and tips really appreciated. Will be thinking of you all this time tomorrow when we're out at one of the shacks have dinner
Counting the days now, we go 2 weeks sat from gatwick.
Ive been checking the weather, im a heat and humidity freak and its looking good.
As this is our first time we booked all inclusive at oceanique, it cost 70 pounds each which is rather a lot from what people seem to say on here.
I know i will go again so this is a fact finding mission.
I dont intend to eat much in the hotel and want to experience the local beach shacks for sundowners and cold kingfishers and cocktails.
Any recomendations for shacks or restaurants close by.
Regards
Rob
One tip for the Oceanique. I think the rooms on the ground floor are better. They have a small terrace. I would try to avoid all rooms beginning with 2. That particular block has the sun shining on it most of the day. If you can, give them a ring and try to get room 401. We had that room and it is definitely the best situated room. 401,403 and 405 are also well situated. Rooms in block 3 are in the shade most of the day as well.
Beach shacks. They are very nearby. Our favourite was the Silver Spoon. They have a party night every sunday. Also in that area on the lane going down to the beach on your right hand side is a small hotel the Lucky Star. The food and service there was absolutely first class.
Defintely go to Martins Corner. It is a tuk-tuk ride away. The food is wonderful. It is a restaurant that Tendulka goes to.
If you want to send me an IM I can let you have some numbers of taxi and tuk tuk drivers that are reliable. I can also let you know about the one to avoid that the hotel allows to operate from them.
Have a great holiday.
The taxi driver in question is the one being referred to on this forum, i am deeply disapointed that people are talking about him in this darrogatory fashion, lets face it folks if your happy paying the first price you are quoted then let it be.
We all know that Goa is a place for bartering and haggling, unless of course it is your first time and have done zero research prior to your arrival, folks on here are moaning about a difference of only 2-3 pounds which does not go far in our pockets but goes a long way in a Goans pockets.
Let me tell you a little story about the person *** here in question, during the 1997/1998 season this person sorted me and my girlfriend out with accomodation for 6 months at a price of £80 per month including 2 bedrooms with balconies,2 bathrooms,a kitchen with sky tv and hot and cold water(a premium then).
He also gave us 6 months of free scooter hire and one the kindest persons in Goa helped us take a dog from the beach.
That dog is now sat next to me here in the UK.
My name is Martin and my girlfriends name is Michala next time anybody speaks to *** just mention our names and you will find the real ***.
Please dont disrespect people on this site as it is such a useful site to have to ourselves.
edit
sorry I had to edit the driver's name as I had previously done this with the negative comments.

Things came to a head with the other taxi drivers on our 4th day. He was boxed in by four other taxi drivers just by the cross roads as the fishing village in colva and spoken to very strongly.
Having spoken to other guests it was due to other drivers taking exception to how he was dealing with all tourists, not just those at Oceanique
As i said, I experienced it, so i know it to be a fact.
That is what this forum is about im afraid. People tell you thier thoughts good and bad.
Thats i suppose is why we have a choice.
Im pleased though that he who should not be named provided you with a good service....
The Oceanique Hotel was not even built then. Yes, he does come across as quite friendly and helpful but , sadly, there is a reason for this.
I do not wish him any harm but it is up to him to change.
Barchetta,
I forgot to mention something about the Oceanique that we liked when we went back last March. We were instantly ecognised at reception on check-in. Then that evening when we returned to our room after being out was a lovely gift wrapped bottle of wine and two glasses with a lovely written card welcoming us back. I thought that was a very nice touch and quite unexpected.
Question.
Has anybody stayed at the Oceanique this season (Nov ~)?
How was it?

Does anyone know, where these rooms are situated? Refering to http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=mapusa&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=15.28107,73.914599&spn=0.003695,0.004914&t=k&om=0

I have posted a review of this hotel. I am not sure what yu are asking 'where are the rooms' located. From the map. The room is located I guess south-west from the bottom of the pool as you look at it on the map. It is right on the corner. It definitely is the best located room. Ground floor.
Can anyone tell me if there are any opticians near the Oceanique? I want to buycontact lenses and my partner glasses. This is our first trip to Goa -We've been to Thailand many times and bought both there, but I'd like to stock up again presuming the prices are similar to Thailand i.e. much cheaper than Europe!
I would suggest taking the bus or taxi to Margao. Not a long journey and good for a visit anyway. There are bound to be Opticians there to meet your need. Try 'googling' it.
What I would recommend is visiting the dentist for dental hygiene cleaning. very cheap compared to UK.
Have a look at this.
Thanks Pedrogooner will make a note of some of the info on that link PS Other half is a Gooner & I'm a Spurs fan so will be fun next Wed! (Evening before we go to Goa!)
Booked just flight only and need accommodation in Colva. Been looking at Oceanique as a possible place to stay.
Does anyone know how much it is to stay there and if there is a web site and Email address?
I did send an Email to them but I think it went through an agent and I haven't heard anything back yet.
Hope the 'gooners' get through over the two legs. Should be on TV in Goa.

I am pretty sure that they do not do private bookings. You would certainly pay well over the top if they did.
There are plenty of places to book into when you arrive in Colva. Depends what you are looking for.
If you want to stay in an Old Portuguese style house with a brother and sister then let me know-- I'll give you the address. Sadly, you'll just have to turn up. They are a lovely old couple. Accomodation is very basic, no air con but a fan is available. Very very cheap place to stay. They'll do you breakfast as well. I might have a couple of pics if you are definitely interested.
Oceanique just Emailed back to say a room woudl be 3850 - which sounds a lot to me. Trying to work out how much that would be in pounds?
Old Portugese house sounds nice and I wouldn't have a problem staying as a guest, especially as I may be spending some time on my own!! Could you post some pics for me - I'd be very grateful. Is it central, how far to the beach?
that's approx £44.
