Hi Folks,
My fiance and I are off to Tunisia for our honeymoon next month (I'm 25, and she is 24).
We were browsing the Thomson website and spotted a 2 week break at the Royal Kenz near PEK which was half board. The hotel looks lovely, and the Port also looks beautiful.
We were looking for a relaxing break, with things to do not too far away, and from reading through this forum it looks like that's what we're going to get!
So far we have made the usual travel plans, each had our jabs: HepA, Typhoid, Tetanus and polio. (although for some reason I was charged £38 for mine!) bought everything we need etc.
Because it's going to be scorching out there when we arrive on Aug 20th, I'm packing my factor 40 sun cream! Jen tan's, I seem to burn first
The only surprise I've run into is the currency exchange. We will be taking about £1500 with us for the 2 weeks because there is so much we want to do. I'm aware that it's best to change our money as and when we need it. Hopefully we will get a chance to exchange some at the airport, failing that the hotel will have to do/.
We are both very excited, and look forward to setting off. I'll be sure to post back with a few photos and a review of the hotel in the review section (like I did when we returned from the Canary Islands last year)
Not really much point to this post, other than to join in the discussion on what looks like a great holiday destination.

Dont forget to write a review when you get back - they'll be a lot of people interested to hear what you thought of the Royal Kenz and PEK(OK then, me especially as ill be going early October )
The Sahara trip is something we are both really wanting to do, as well as visiting a couple of the larger towns/cities. The waterpark looks like fun, as well as Quad Biking and horse riding (it's beginning to seem like less of a relaxing holiday, isn't it? But we have 2 weeks to fill up so want to make the most of it) Boat trips from PEK are another plus point!
I'm also looking forward to eating out some evenings in the Port as some of the restaurants sound fantastic!
We've never stayed in a 4 star hotel before, and neither of us are particularly fussy with regard to accommodation, but I do appreciate a clean and well run establishment. I've read the Kenz has recently undergone some renovation work that has since been completed, so that's a bonus. Some of the reviews of the hotel in the review section are from this month, and are very positive.
Now, next item on the list is to learn some basic Arabic
Ive just ordered 'Arabic for Dummies' from Amazon, so hopefully I should be able to at least say please and thank you by the time I go!
I kow what you mean about the boat trips - looking forward to going out on a boat and taking a lazy cruise along the coast(must stop torturing myself - ive got another TWO MONTHS to wait )
We booked this holiday about 7 months ago, and now it's almost upon us!
Those 2 months will fly by
We booked this holiday about 7 months ago, and now it's almost upon us!
Hope your right Rob!
Trouble is, we booked this holiday on New Years Eve, believe it or not!Thats a long time to wait...........
Hi Rob_alexander, We also fly out on 20th next month to hotel kanta pek. We went to pek about 5years ago and really enjoyed every min. We did the Sahara 2 day trip it was very tiring but well worth it. Also did the quad bikes my husband and son loved it but have to say i'll never do it again i was rubbish at it and ended up riding on the guides bike with him (felt really stupid). We didn't do any boat trips last time so we'll give that a go this time. Husband and son going back on quad bikes while i stay by the pool with a drink and a good book (ahh heaven). I think i read something on this site about an animal park may try that too, if anyone has any info on it please let me know.
Jen isn't keen on the Quad Biking at all which is a shame, but I must admit it's prob hard going?
We're flying out from Glasgow at about 10am if i remember correctly. What about yourself?
where flying from humberside but not until approx 10.30pm. I hate late flights , when we booked it was supposed to be in the afternoon. oh well, nothing we can do about it now. Hope you have a great holiday.
Paula
Also flying from Glasgow on the 20th Aug. We are A.I at The Occidental Allegro Riviera. So looking forward to a much needed break. Office worker here so dont see much summer sun outwith lunchtime and my holidays. Rob enjoy married life and hope it kicks off with a great visit to Tunisia
I too am an office worker, so I understand how you feel!
Mumtastic, our flight has also been pushed back twice! It was meant to be at about 7am but has now ended up at around 10am sometime (can't remember the exact time)
Still, Thomson have kept us well informed via post, so no real complaints
