We have stayed at the old village apartments twice. we are late 40s also with a 17 year old son and we love it, it is about 20 mins walk to the marina where there is lots of bars and restaurants. the beaches are fab.we normaly go in june.

Our son's also 17 and we're hiring a car for 12 days as we like exploring.(can't stay in one place too long!)

Can you give any advice on places of interest (historical/other) so that our son doesn't get too bored with us oldies ? 2 weeks can be a long time for a 17 year old!! Thanks

We also hire a car, Silves and Lagos are nice places to visit, the best days are market days, although my son hates shopping the markets can be quite an eyeopener and very traditional. Faro itself is a nice city to visit. There are plenty of water parks to visit, you can pick up details in the Village or on the Marina itself. A good day out for the whole family is the crazy golf at Algoz, the have a pool aswell as the golf. My sons favourite place would be the karting track at Almancil which we visit on more than one occasion.Zoo Marine is also a good all rounder. Hope this helps
