We have a place in Bodrum and go out every few weeks. Last year at the end of December we booked with above going from Birmingham. Whilst we were in Turkey we were told at the last minute that our return flight was moved to Manchester (the car was parked in Birmingham) when we checked in for our return we were then told me were going first to Gatwick then to Manchester and would have to make our own way back to Birmingham.
We then booked this years flight from Manchester going on the 30th December for 2 weeks (paid for in March). 2 weeks ago thhey contacted us to say our return flight in January was cancelled and we could only go for one week. We immediately cancelled the flights and rebooked with Pegasus. I told my friends in Bodrum as they had flights booked to return from the uk in January but all flights have been postphoned now until 31st. March, so beware when booking ahead with this airline as they keep cancelling flights. We have now found a better and cheaper way of going in the winter and will also look for alternatives for the summer as we don't trust this airline.
I feel the same and have had one or two disappointments with Onur, in particular a 27 hour delay that was so badly handled. Many of my friends had cancellation problems last year. It is a shame as to begin with they were reasonably priced and we used them a few times. Maybe they just didn't get the volume of bookings they needed to be viable and I haven't found them to be any cheaper than others for a long time. I have recently booked a couple of winter flights to Dalaman with Thomas Cook. It means going to Gatwick for one of them but the price was £80 return so I couldn't resist it. The other one was from Gatwick and returning to Birmingham for £150. I have used them a lot this year and no problems - yet!
I think they do cancel and change flights when they don't have enough bookings in the winter time. When I lived in bodrum i would come home from Izmir with KTHY in winter as it was the easiest and most reliable way to do it. I have travelled with Onur in summer and they have been fine then but I wouldn't do it in winter. Do Pegasus fly direct to Bodrum?
i had my easter flight this year changed from birmingham to gatwick and different dates too, wasnt too pleased but had no choice but to accept as it was such short notice of cancellation
onur is always a problem
Did you know as from around the 15th December Turkish Airlines are flying Birmingham to Istanbul 5 times a week. The going out and then onto Bodrum is good with daytime flights but because it is a new service the coming back is not so good with 12/13 hours wait, there are ways around this by careful planning.
Pegasus do not fly direct to Bodrum but go from Stansted to the smaller airport in Istanbul with a 55 minute wait for the internal flight onto Bodrum. Our December flights out and January flights back are all during the daytime. I looked to go out with them for 2 weeks in February/March and the flight Stansted to Istanbul was only £45 return, plus £101 return flights Istanbul to Bodrum. Check this airline out, it might suit some trips, however the summer flights are not coming up yet.
