Slightly off-topic, but we have a regular customer who takes big quantities of cigs back, and he started taking a quantity of cigs back in his hand luggage, and he was actually stopped by security at Palma Airport on his way home.

I've never heard of this before, but apparently the security scanner noticed he didn't appear to have anything in his hand luggage (the scanner doesn't see the cigs - only the bar code) and they pulled him over, and quizzed him as to why he had so many cigarettes. They looked at his boarding card, and the security man (in his presence) actually rang Manchester Airport, and he was stopped by Customs when he landed, and the lot were confiscated.

Not trying to alarm anyone, and this guy took it on the chin, because he's done literally dozens of runs, but there does seem to be some co-operation between the two authorities.

Nashman,
This was on jet2 website, if it is any help to you

What if I have special needs or a medical condition?
Jet2.com endeavours to meet the requirements of passengers with special needs, for example, expectant mothers, or those with a medical condition, provided they notify us of their special needs at the time of making the booking. This must be done by contacting our Call Centre on +44 (0)207 1500374 before booking both inbound and outbound flights.

How can I ensure I will get the mobility assistance I need?
Level of Assistance

Subject to prior booking, we will arrange for mobility assistance from the Check-in desk until the Baggage Reclaim area at the destination airport. Sometimes the level of assistance is limited to what the airport is able to provide. Jet2.com generally relies on specialist 3rd parties, often appointed by the airport authorities themselves and so it is important that we know your requirements so we can communicate these effectively. Assistance from the car park to the check-in desk, or from the Baggage Reclaim area to the car park, should be booked directly with the airport concerned. CBG

Special assistance is normally booked with the tour operator or airline. I would call them again and hopefully you will get someone who knows the score.

Hi there,

Just mention to the crew on the flight and they will be able to arrange buggy or wheelchair assist on arrival at Palma. They will only take you as far as baggage reclaim area though - you're on your own from there on in. On the return journey just tell the guys at the check in desk when you check in your luggage and they will arrange for a man to come down, again with buggy or wheelchair, to fetch you and take you through to departure gate.

I was quite suprised to see a post from someone saying that there was a still smoking area at Palma airport last August. We've been through Alicante, Malaga and Ibiza airports from january 07 and they were all non smoking so is it true that Palma is an exception? I find this hard to believe.

We just arrived back last night from Majorca - all our luggage seemed to be weighed accurately, no hand luggage was weighed nor even asked to be seen and, yes, there is most definitely a smoking area in Departures.

I read a review that stated that Palma airport still has a smoking area, I find this hard to believe as having flown from Alicante, Malaga and Ibiza since Jan 07 they are all non-smoking (except outside). Can anyone comment on this?

When we came home they didn't weigh our hand luggage at Palma. Mind you there wouldn't have been much weight in the plane as there were only 14 passengers! WE all had three seats each to stretch out on!

both at Alicante, Malaga you can still smoke in airport.Alicante, as gate # 11? Malaga as a room set a side right at the far end.ibiza is still a no no.

Bit of an odd question here, hope somebody can help. Flying out to Majorca on 15 September (staying Pollensa). Land around 17.30 ish, so kids (4 and 1) are going to be starving and simply will not wait till we drive to Pollensa, unpack etc,.

Does the arrivals area at Palma airport have anywhere where we can get a meal, or does anyone know of anywhere just outside the airport where we can get food???

Any help/suggestions appreciated??

There's a snack bar type place in arrivals serving baguettes, crisps etc. However if you're wanting a proper meal then you may be better going off the airport, afraid I can't help with suggestions though.

Depends which terminal you land at, but you should pass either a burger King or a McDonalds, not ideal, or good value, but it keeps the kids going, usually pick our kids a happy meal up, keeps them quiet while waiting for our cases. ;)
