hi to all you Turkey lovers out there!
after reading a few different holiday reports....yes i know it can be worrying to sometimes listen to other people's views on places but i couldn't help it.
anyway i'd better get back on topic eh? i have read a few reports talking about 'Pamikkale's Terraces' near to Hierapolis. can anyone tell me more about this place. i googled it and it looked something pretty special i must say.
are there trips available direct from Marmaris to Hierapolis or are we better to hire a car or hop aboard a dolmus?
thanks in advance and Happy Holidays
Sandra
Ä°m not sure of the distance from Marmaris..from where i live(Alanya) they do two day trips..and it takes about 7/8 hours to get there..Marmaris should take less as its it the MuÄŸlaDenizli area.
Another wonderful excursion that is of course very far from Marmaris is Cappadochia, im sure they will also go there from Marmaris.
Another nice day out and easy for you to get to is ancient Knidos on the Datça peninsula...beautiful place.
We done the trip to Pamukkale last year from Marmaris which we booked through one of the many tour company's along the front.I cant remember the cost as it was including a couple of other trips.
It`s an early start about 7.00am and takes 4 and a bit hours with a couple of stops along the way arriving
around 12.
On our trip we were shown around the ruins of Hierapolis which are not that special apart from the
Amphitheater ( a must just for the view ) then on to Pamukkale itself.
The cliffs don't look that special from a distance but once you get up close you begin you realise the scale of
them.Your allowed to walk down one part of the cliffs in your bare feet but its pretty sore going.
We didn't get back to our hotel till about 8.00pm so its a long day but well worth it
Hope this helps.
Louis.....

i'm sure we'll make a big effort to go there now.your photos were useful Louis.
having to get up early in the morning and being on the go 'til late evening won't be a problem........we've got 3 kids so used to it!!!!!!!
thanks again and Happy Holidays

The pool has healing qualities but it wasn't until after we left that I discovered you are supposed to imbibe the water to get the benefit.
It does cost extra to go in the pool, but everyone on our trip thought it was worth it.
We went from Kusi so I am not sure if the pool option is available for the Marmaris trips.
