Hi there is quite a few reviews on another forum which states the spa is very expensive and i don`t think anything is included in you AI package, never the less you will have a fab time we were there in 2004 and loved it, trying the cayos this year for a change but still have a feeling we will never find a hotel in cuba as good as the prdo.

the Paradisus Rio de Oro HOLGUIN...
when we arrived they said..'good to see you..have we a supprise...we are

Can anyone tell me what the TV stations are like in the hotel - getting concerned we won't get to see the world cup!!
When the European cup was on a couple of years ago the hotel screened the matches in the afternoon on big screen in the fun pub
Just wondering if any one can help! I have booked to visit the PRDO on 23rd Sept - 7th Oct 06 this year and can't wait. But as many of you, we have also received a letter explaining the building works... so if possible, please can anyone who has recently visited let me know the disturbance - fingers crossed by then it should just about be completed.
2ndly, are there any recommendations as to which rooms to ask for? We are traveling with some friends and are having 2 Junior Suites!
And finally! Has anyone been to PRDO around the same time last year who could let me know what the weather is usually like around that time of year?! Websites say it is the rainy season, but i know this is always hit and miss!
Thank you
Matt
TWe are considering going here end November/start December as I have a 'big' birthday then! Does anyone know if they will do a cake (at cost is expected) for events? And has anyone been in December?
We are going out at the end of this month and one of our party is having a "special" birthday while we are there. I have emailed the hotel to request a cake and to pre book the restaurant for the night of the birthday. They have confirmed this and also said they will send a bottle of champagne to his room, though I never asked them to do that ( I like this place already).
No costs were mentioned, but as its all inclusive I don't suppose there will be.
Thanks for that. Think we'll have to do it - and as you say sounds good already if they are going to send the champagne to the room.

Thank you for the weather website - great info! Was worried we would get drenched! but by the looks of it we'll be fine.
Hope you enjoy yourself. We are going 5 weeks tomorrow for our 6th visit, not that we are counting the days or anything!!!!
Out of our two weeks there we heard it maybe 3 times during our stay - 4 max.
The beach restaurant was only open for drinks in our first week but re opened for food in the second week. We had just finished lunch one day and they started drilling - quick exit back to the pool.
In saying that we felt the beach restaurant was an added bonus for us as we were quite happy with the food at the pool bar. The staff there are fab especially Neyisi, Maria and Alien, (yes really) when he on the bar there.
Don't let the building work put you off if you are thinking of this hotel, they are very discreet, and you can only hear it at certain areas around the pool and it doesn't happen all day everyday.
There is some work also taking place near the main hotel beside the Japanese restaurant, but not enough to spoil things. There are far more positives to this hotel to out way the building work.
Myself, daughter and her friend had a massage and use of all of the facilities for the day for just over £20 each. The vapour shower after a sauna is bliss.
If you are visiting the hotel, try the spa, there are many treatments available.
*Hi Gardengal
I'm afraid I've had to edit out the post as it was taken from another forum (copyright laws apply). Please feel free to post a link though. Pippy*

Anyone else back recently, with news about the Beach Restaurant?
Here is an update on the PRDO and it becoming an "adults only" resort as of next year Nov/07:
Just one question does anyone know what the diving / dive centre is like here, im advanced so like a decent dive?
