We were in Majorca in September this year, staying in Can Pastilla, we went into Poppy's Bar, although I don't think we met Matt & Leanne I believe they still own Poppy' Bar as we were talking to the young girl behind the bar she said they had had nothing but bad luck since the program. (Didn't see the program, but my friend had)

But I didn't feel it would get any better for them, if things carried on the way they were when we were there, we had one morning when it throw it down with rain and we popped into the bar to get a coffee, only to be told the kettle wasn't working, two days later it still wasn't working! The bar was closed quite a lot of afternoons so they wouldn't get any business off the beach if they were closed. How can you run a business this way, I know it's hard work but would have known that as well.

Shame really but I suppose there is so much competition anywhere in Majorca because of the amount of bars (and the all inclusive option at hotels doesn't help). Wouldn't fancy it myself, would rather be at the other side of the bar  . Gx

It was a smashing program and i really wish they would bring it back, i met one of the blues brothers from the programme in Alcudia last year and would you believe a few weeks later i saw him on the industrial estate where i work in the uk. I did have a few tapes of passport but since i changed over to a dvd recorder i cant find em.

It was my friend who mentioned Passport to the Sun to me in April this year while we were in Magaluf (I'd never heard of it). We were sat having a drink in Robinson Crusoes and she said this particular bar was always on the programme. I haven't seen Robinson Crusoes on the repeats so far but watch it everyday at 3 pm when I finish work :D

Passport to the Sun was an entertaining programme, we used to watch it ourselves, but it was very stage-managed, and some of the bars featured, would only be featured if they admitted to some calamity or other, which more often than not was then editted to make them look like fools.

There are loads of singers who boast of being featured on PttS, and then use it as a way to demand more money when they are seeking work. No thanks - I'm looking for good quality entertainers, not some over-rated has-been or never-was, who uses a brief appearance on a day time programme from over 3 years ago, to charge an inflated fee.

I met Mat from Poppy's Bar a couple of years ago. They mis-represented his problems, but admitted that he had done well from the programme, although he still couldn't make a go of it, and the bar was for sale, and he was moving to Australia.

Cheers,

Adam

Another BIG fan of this old programme here! I too miss nadias adventures around the island, she must have done at least five series.
Does anyone know if this programme is making a return? Iknow it hasnt been on for 2 or 3 yrs now but it was certainly a hit with our family.

Has anyone seen "lippy lou" on their travels?

Leapy Lea was on Never Mind The Buzzcocks last night in a "Spot the real Leapy Lea" line up! They showed a clip of him singing "Little Arrows" when it was a big hit. I never watch this show- it was on in the background and my ears pricked up when I heard the name. (Spotted him straight away!)

Living in th sun was similar to Passport to the sun but based on the Costa del sol.

Leepy Lee was playing at a bar in Santa Ponsa in September still attracting the crowds. Also the guy from Passport to the Sun that was the Elvis impersonator was doing the bars in Santa Ponsa ans Sa Coma. I saw him but he wasn't very good.

Leapy stills plays throughout most of the year in Santa Ponsa, Magaluf and Palma Nova...plus he's doing some "Time" in Benidorm for the winter as well.

Best Regards - Taggy :)

Hi CBG. Shame the Elvis impersonator wasn't too good but he looks OK (well at least he did about 5 years ago on Passport to the Sun  ). Did you see Claudia (Shirley Bassey) while you were in Cala Bona? Gx

Pargaluvva- Elvis had put on a lot of weight since his Passport to the Sun days his show really was poor, we left early into his act. The Elvis / Tom Jones at the Alicia was much better. I missed Claudia/ Shirley Bassey but heard she put on a good show. You really are spoilt for choice in Cala Bona for entertainment, I usually have a wander to see who's on in the hotels then we make our decision, I know its the same acts every year but it's all part of the fun. Hi CBG. We were supposed to be going to Sa Coma in October and hoped to see Elvis at Delanays but for various reasons we ended up staying at home  . Saw Claudia in April this year in Magaluf and she was brilliant. I think she does a show at the London Inn. Gx

Hi all
Regarding the couple on Passport to the sun, who ran the Poppys Bar. When I saw a revisited program, they were selling up because it didn't work out for them and I think they were going to live in Australia. I think one of them came from there.
