Hi - Does anybody know if you can get people carrier style taxis for 4+ people from the airport taxi rank - if yes, do they work out cheaper than getting 2 taxis?

I don't think they do them as standard - have never seen any in the ranks - whether they could ring thru' and ask for you when you get to taxi rank I don't know but either way you could end up faced with 2 taxis which could be more costly than a pre-booked transfer.
We wanted to avoid a situation whereby we'd be stuck in 2 taxis so pre-booked our transfers last year and have done the same this year.

Last year we used MCA Travel (Based in Porto Cristo) and they used Autocares Levante. you can book thru' Autocares Levante direct and save a bit on the price but being first time DIYers we were a bit panicky and did everything so we had copies of everything 
We had a Mercedes people carrier (think it was an 8 seater) take us to resort (Cala Millor) and coming back we had I think a 16/20 seater coach something like that all to ourselves which the kids thought was marvellous.
No problems at all with service and would have used them again this year only we've gone with someone who lives in resort and does it cheaper.
If you want to contact Autocares Levante (do a search of my previous posts as I've done one fairly recently about this) and email and mark FAO Victor as he speaks good English.
Janerbus also gave us fairly good quote .

I've just received a quote from Janerbus for a "private direct minibus transfer" of 48 Euro each way - which seems very reasonable. No need to prepay either, just pay the driver on the day.

We r using janerbus for a transfer on the 30th to palmanova at 48 euros each way , booked a few months ago & have had very efficent service so far.
Where are you flying from? , we are flying from stansted on Air Berlin.

We fly out from Gatwick on the 30th.
I have booked our transfers with Janerbus, they seem really efficient and have replied almost immediately to any emails that I have sent them.
Fingers crossed that everything runs smoothly on arrival.

Madmacca - would you mind letting us know how you got on with your transfers when you get back - we dont go till September but theres 6 of us looking for a people carrier to take us to Marina Barracuda which I believe is next door to where you are staying.

Got quoted these prices today for a return transfer from Palma airport to Santa Ponsa for 6 people in July:

Autocares Levante = 114 euros return
Getting an airport taxi (from taxi rank outside airport) costs between 35 & 40 euros each way, so we'd be at least 140 euros (as we'd need 2 taxis).
Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used (or will soon be using) any of the 2 companies mentioned above - thanks!!

We used Autocares Levante last year (Booked thru' MCA travel).
We arrived slightly late and got stuck on a carousel way down the line with a flight from Dortmund so it was manic - came out of the wrong exit and couldn't see our driver.
I asked a tour op rep if they knew where Autocares Levante stood and she pointed me in the direction of the boss who came over, introduced himself and rang his driver who was with us in less than a minute - he'd been waiting for us further up arrivals.
Transfer was great - air conditioned 8 seater merc and they turned up for return journey with an 16/18 seater coach all for us and arrived on time.
No complaints at all I have to say and would probably have used them again this year but got a cheaper quote from chap who lives in Cala Millor and does airport transfers for a local company.

Thanks tisonlymoi! Good to get feedback from somone who has actually used one of the companies I'm looking at booking with. Not much difference in cost between the two so it really will come down to who gives the best service. Just over 5 weeks to go - yipeeeee!!
No worries - as it was our first DIY holiday I was really panicky last year and a dodgy transfer company would really have caused us problems but I had no complaints about the vehicles or our drivers last year.
