Hi
I was talking to someone at work the other day and they said you shouldn't wear perfume on holiday due to mosquitos and the alcohol in the perfume. Is this true?
Yes so I believe. I do wear a teeny bit though as I'd feel naked without it lol. I suppose it makes sense that they're attracted to the smell.
tracy
Never had a problem with wearing perfume and attracting the mozzies and I plaster myself with it...............probably the mozzies dont like my choice of perfume Pure Poison by Dior.
Must admit I don't wear perfume out but then mozzies love me anyway so not sure if it makes a huge difference anyway - going to use the wrists bands, used once in spain and seemed ok so going to try again in hotter climes and hopefully OK.
Well i dont agree with not wearing perfume because it causes mozzie bites..I was bit more than ever in march last year due to not wearing perfume so this holiday i'll be wearing my usual amount and smelling better i might add.
I wear it too, but I don't spray as much as I do at home.
Never have a problem with mozzies, but seem to attract a lot of birds when i wear my kouros

Tell the truth now, they're all old crows Andy
strangely enough the ones to show most interest are either crested or great or perhaps its just that i notice them
Ohh I have always worn it and up to now never been attacked by the mozzies!
usually holiday in turkey, and dont wear perfume for fear of being nibbled.........
Some people do seem to bitten more if they wear perfume. I dont tend to wear perfume on holiday much anyway as the heat makes the smell disappear too quick. In Turkey I usually put some lemon cologne on as that is supposed to keep them away, it is nice and fresh too.
lemon is a scent hated by the little pointy nosed pests...i always use DKNY woman for that reason on holiday, it's not really lemony but there is a definate undertone and i don't usually get too many bites at all, maybe 3 or 4 in 2 weeks...even during rainy season over in the carribean when they are said to be rife...i always seem to get bitten on my lower legs too, not sure why...
I am always worried about getting bitten now... and take all kinds with me sprays plug ins ect and take garlic and brewers yeast before I go.....found out about the wrist bands last year and bought a load as my youngest gets eaten too.....so went away twice last year with my cases full of anti mozzie gear including the bands I was eager to try out.... guess what ?....not a single mozzie...if there were any they weren't biting ....and I didnt use anything....I went gran caneria first in july then pefkos in rhodes in august.....it helped decide where we were off to on our hols this year....Playa taurito in gran caneria
Those bites that you encounted round your feet and lower legs were probably sand flea bites. Have a look at this link...............they are little beggers in the Caribbean.

Angie.
I dont really do beaches ....just go paddling along the water line usually late afternoon when its cooler....my lot love the beach and while they go messing in the sea I go shopping ....and then take them icecreams ect and take some photos...
Now Im a bit worried incase the fever I had was more than a virus and am checking it out....we should be made more aware of these type of things....but Ive never seen any warnings about them before
I always wear perfume on holidays and never get more than 2 bites. I think that's due to all the repellents I douse myself in . We did go to try the wrist bands last holiday, bought them in boots in the airport and left them on the counter so not sure if they're any good
ps angie34....what can you use to stop sand flea bites...tweetie
