Do you really expect taxi drivers to drop the cost because of the petrol reduction noggin :rofl

More money for the taxi drivers! Very much doubt they will pass on any savings.

Can't see them dropping prices, there are plenty of times when you have no choice but to use them. Did anyone else get told by drivers that the minimum fare was 100rps ? I did with a tuc-tuc and refused to pay it having not gone too far, had words and told him he was Dick Turpin and gave him 50rps, he wasn't happy but didn't want to argue, pointed out yet again that the fares are written on his windscreen, and if they apply to Indian origin only ? Mumble mumble and the noddy head was well rocking - avoid using them when possible.
Sure I read somewhere that a late night tourist bus is going to run along the Cal/Can/Bag route ? Can't always time these right but not a bad idea for some folks.

Hi all
just checked todays price of petrol in Goa...R55 a litre....this time last year it was about...R65 a litre...
I was wondering how much is a taxi from airport to Calangute this season... :que
I bet it is the same or even more than last year... :que

other things...repairs, insurance. tyres etc go up in price which will take care of the fuel price decrease, then when fuel goes up past the old price an increase in fares would take ages to filter through.

In September 2012 the cost of a van type of taxi from the airport booth to Calangute was 900 INR however they also impose a 300 INR surcharge for early morning journeys, approx midnight to six but also be aware they might tell you that you need a bigger taxi because of your luggage or they only have an A/C taxi either will cost another 300 to 500 INR more if you let them cheat you

Hi meagain :cheers
not many people in Goa manage to cheat me anymore....

Never forget the time we arrived in Mumbai at midnight...got a A/C taxi down to Colabra...(paid 300 INR extra for the pleasure)
When we set off in our taxi...we were quite warm...asked driver to put on A/C....and you guessed it he opened the windows... :rofl

Thats works out about the same as the taxi fare to transfer from a Heathrow hotel to the airport.

Didn't the pre paid taxis from Dabolim to Candolim used to be about 600rps not so long ago

I think this could be a very useful thread for people to get an idea of the taxi prices being charged from A to B this season... if everyone wrote the prices they have been charged for various common trips, such as Calangute to candolim, candolim to baga etc be interesting to see the variation, i have no idea at all as have never got taxi's and i am on a learning curve this year!!! not a pleasant experience!! :think

so come on guys when you get here post your fares!! :tup

You could also add the name of the driver
You know how it is when you get a reliable driver you tend to give them plenty of business

We could even break out the wrist bands for a bit if a discount?
