No I would say Pineda is more the type of place you would go for a quiet couples holiday, although there is a beautiful beach there and I suppose it does depend on what you're hotel provides for children.

The neighbouring resorts are Calella (which I personally didn't like) and Santa Susanna or Malgrat. There is a train station in Pineda, the line runs right through the resort and takes about 40 minutes into Barcelona. The zoo in Barcelona and is absolutely fabulous so I can highly recommend it for children.

Also I'm sure there will be excursions to Aqua Brava, the water park, which children may enjoy too. We didn't have our son with us when we went two years ago so wasn't particularly paying much attention to places to go with kids, although I do remember thinking I was glad we hadn't brought him with us.

Personally, I can think of plenty of more family orientated resorts that I would rather go to, although I did enjoy Pineda ok for just my husband and I for the week.

definatley not for a six year old, it is a couples resort, callella is awful don't consider it, santa susanna and malgrat are 20 mins walk away or one stop on the train, it would take you 2 mins and is cheap but that also although nice, is not for kids, all the entertainment is hotel based but you can go in them,

Your 8yo will love the Taurus as mine did last year :)
It's about 30mins or so by car from Gerona airport and about 30-45mins? to Barca by car or thereabouts as i can't really remember how long it took us to get there. There isn't anything to do in Pineda at night but the hotel is great so there isn't any need, unless you like going out and about,to leave the hotel.

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Taurus park and was brilliant, your kids will love it as mine did, 10 and 12 yr olds.

Plenty going on all day long.

Yes the resort is quiet, as i like it, but only a 10 min walk into pineda or 5 mins on the train to malgrat or santa susanna.

me and my boyfriend stayed at pineda for a week it is nice but definitly not for kids its so quiet. I liked callela but only because of the shops. We went through malgrat looked like it was abit busier. Hope ive helped.

Malgrat and Calella are much busier and have more choices for doing things, Pineda is more laid back .

I'm looking for a holiday for my parents at the moment, and the Golden Taurus is one of the 4 hotels I've seen for them...

They won't be taking any kids with them, will the hotel be suitable for just the two of them?

I've been to the Old Town side of Benidorm, but never to the Costa Brava nor Pineda. What I didn't like about Benidorm was the fact that it was like a big city, so seemed like a city break rather than a beach holiday. I know Pineda isn't as big as Benidorm - but is it a 'beach' holiday?

Thanks

That hotel would be perfect for them, its right on the front across the road from the beach, the train station is not too far from the hotel and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel for the little tractor train , Pineda is flat so its fine for walking , there is a small shopping area and lots of places to eat and drink. The hotel is very lively and has something going on every day.

hi dont know if this will help a group of 9 aged 53 - 70 stayed in malgrat at the maripins hotel the hotel was first class floors shone like glass food was out of this world first time l have ever had plumb tomatoes for breakfast in spain different themed nights for people who wanted mexican, american etc besides the normal types of food they put on this hpotel caters for people in your parents age group so no discos. the hotel is in the middle of the shops but lies back so it is quiet at night it is all flat where you can go from malgrat and walk up to santa sussana looking in the shops as you go or yoiu can catch the little blue train. it is not far to walk into malgrat and it is also opposite the sea. have a look lm sure you will not be disapointed staff were also brilliant and friendly

I am deciding whether to go to blanes or calella, with cantabrica, we are a couple, and would be somewhere where you can have a mix of quiet and nice bars restuarants shops etc?
Reply
pat,
i would have no problem choosing calella as although it is busier than blanes it does have a great selection of bars/restaurants/shops.some bars etc will get busier and louder tyhan you may want but there is plenty of choice.
blanes is much quieter, but is on main train line, has buses to lloret, has beautiful gardens to visit and a fair selection of bars etc.it would be more of a chill out place than calella.
depending what you want to do at night re eating and drinking, calella would offer more choice.

thanks for the advice much appreciated,

I would agree with jim, Calella is more lively has more choices , Blanes is really lovely more for the mature age group . Depending where your staying in Calella it can be quite hilly and a good walk to the beach.

were just a little older than you!!and we found pineda a bit quiet.
we have stayed in pineda and calella, and prefer calella.
calella can be as lively or as quiet as you want it to be,there are alot more bars cafes etc in calella
only 43 more days and we will be there

I'll post this here to save starting another thread;)

We stayed at the Golden Taurus in June 2005 and loved it so much we are booked to go again at the end of May.What i was wondering though is has anyone been lately and can tell me of any major changes?
I asked this because i was looking at the Thomson website(who say they are the only people that provide it for the Brits apart from coach groups when infact both time we have booked it DIY  ) because they have pictures and a video on there and looking at it the main olympic pool which was the side we had our rooms on before looks ddifferent. The pool looks like it's changed and looks much more like the smaller pool on the other side. Can anyone confirm they have indeed changed it as i thought it a bit strange if they had?
I have the Taurus's website saved in my faves and they haven't updated anything.

hi,we stayed in calella last year and walked into pineda,to the taurus park called in for a drink as we knew some people staying there.
they have changed the olympic pool side, the whole area has been landscaped!!
alongside of the cafe is decking, also alongside of the resteruant is also decking,
the pool has been changed to a kindey shaped one, alot busier that side now as it was alittle quieter.but it looks good anyway.
