errrr, unless you fancy a bag of crisps from the on-site Cepsa petrol station its a long taxi ride to either El Medino, Las Chaferas or San Isidro.

There are no places to eat (or anything else) near the airport. Check-in desks rarely open early in Tenerife Sur
There are the usual places inside the airport - both before and after check-in.

came back from Tenerife January, check in opened and took aages. Didn't even have time to go to duty free, straight through and onto plane.

desks normally only open 2 hours before departure & no where to eat within 7/10 kms

Thanks.

We have a place in the North of the Island so we usually fly from there but this time the flight times we wanted were from the South. We will still have the car so that's okay. We are flying with Iberia, not sure how early they open as we usually leave it till the last mo to check in.. ha ha... They are usually okay regarding queues.

Yes I know the food places in the airport but I don't fancy a Burger King (can get that here)...

Is there nothing in Medano? We don't want English food so we may just head off and see if we can find some Tapas...

El Medano.
Next to the hotel that is on the beach.
Cabo Blanco, does tapas and full meals. You can sit out on the balcony with the sea under you. Great food, reasonably priced. Enjoy

Thanks Pebble, we will try :D

Sorry Munchito didn't realise you had a car plenty of places to eat in Medano Cabelo Blanco as above, Familiar, El Timon, Bahia, Tamboril, Marios, Aqua Viva Plaza Bar etc any of these are ideal for a tapas lunch

Get settled in El Timon & you'll probably miss the plane its so simple & the girls are lovely

Wish I was there now

Also in Los Abrigos a bar half way down the hill the Spanish name translates as the Pub on the Port great for tapas If you want a full meal we can recommend almost any of the others except La Gamba

Best hurry if you want to dine at the Hotel on the beach in Medino. Its one of the hotels marked for demolition under Spain's "reclaim the coastline" project.

Medano Hotel is unlikely to be demolished in the near future we were told not for 10 years at least

However no one was recommending the hotel food its the Cabello Blanco which is a few yards away that was suggested

Hiya Kath
A bit of useless info, but....Who told you that. ?
The pub on the port would be " la taberna en el puerto"
Los Abrigos means " the shelters" a place to come and keep warm and shelter from the cold...and possibly have food and drink
"Un Abrigo" is an overcoat to keep warm, or a shelter.

We all enjoy Tenerife, and give the best advice, that we think will help, sometimes we forget what the thread is about.
Happy posting folks.
