On Gozo the Vinyard. beside the Borg petrol station just outside Victoria on the road from Mgarr, is a really good place to eat. The family who run it are friendly, the food is excellent and the price is also pretty good. I spent a whole year thinking about and trying to replicate their mixed-fish platter and, one year later, it was just as good as I remembered.

Hello all, I would like also to put forward the IL-Merill Restaurant, after all the post's on this site we just had to give it a go. Vince and Mary made me and Mrs Holidaymaker very wecome and there son Norman is a very good chef. Prices for the food and wine are not over the top, and we herd lots of other dinners say how much they had enjoyed there meals. The only down side to our visit was that the Il- Merill closed the day after we went there for there holidays so we had to find another place to eat, and the one we used after this was I am sorry to say better.
I would like to recommend TA' Kris restaurant we had two meals here and both were excellent, the Chicken salad was to die for and the sea base was super duper. The fillet steak was one of the best we have ever had and again the wine was not to expensive, they have a novel way with your brandy if you have one, it is brought to you with a glass of hot water under it to warm it through very nice.
If you would like to book any of these two restaurants you can use the address's below.

I would like to nominate the Namaste Indian Restaurant!

It's situated at the foot of the steps in Portomaso, just by the marina. Lovely cool breeze, very attentive service, excellent Indian food brought promptly and a reasonable cost.

D-Office is a very nice place to stop and have a sandwich or a more substantial meal if you require, the whole place is sparkling clean and is decorated to a very smart standard, we went in twice, once at night when we sat in the lovely bar litening to relaxing music and sipping Averna whilst a balmy breeze blew in from outside, the second time was yesterday dinner time when we had nice fresh salami, ham, cheese and tomatoe sandwiches and chilled kinnies, it has a lovely decor and very relaxed ambience, the charming manageress is a very nice elegant attractive lady for whom nothing is to much trouble, not normally being a fan of cafe bars this place really impressed me and I give it full marks for all they are they are doing here, deffinitely a great addition to Valletta.

Hello all, has anybody been in the new cafe that was once the Army&Navy in Sleima, they were just putting the finishing trim to it as we we left Malta in July?

You will find watsons near the trollies supermarket near the bus depot.

Hi there, found the name of the one in Mggar, it's il'barri (the bull) We went again last Sunday lunch and had a fantastic meal. Once again we were the only tourists there but we were made to feel very welcome. The fenick (oops I think that is wrong for rabbit!) is wonderful. Maltese come to Mggar especially for the rabbit dishes. Another place we found in (ohhhhhh, here we go again with spelling  ) Marsaxxlok (hey that looks right  ) was a place called Pieses on the front along from the market. We ordered 2 ftiras and they were huge with lots of salad all for 60 cents (about £1)

Your certainly right about Mgarr charliegirl, we went to United Bar and Restaurant a couple of sunday nights ago, I had superb Fenek, Laham Ta Ziemel (horse), Bebbux (snails) and Summien (quail) the local Mgarr wine is fabulous, we also go to Ta Wistin Sunny Bar almost next door to where you went, his Fenek is the best in the village but unfortunately the last night we were there he was shut due to a bereavment so we went to United Bar, glad you like Mgarr charliegirl that is a village we would seriously think about purchasing property in.

Have not been to Malta for many years now but will go now that Ryanair have cheap flights!

Was interested to read that an old favourite restaurant of mine years ago , Whispers in Mosta, is still there albeit, the name changed to Ta'Marija. Rumour had it when I used to go there that it was owned by dear old Rolf Harris. I never ever saw him so have no idea if it is true or not.

If someone has been there recently could they give me an idea of the costs of the 'steaks' in sterling please or any other dish come to that.

Mnay thanks,

Have just spent a very pleasant morning at Busy Bees in Msida.

They had a mouthwatering selection of cakes and pastries as well as a good selection of savoury snacks. The service was quick and there is plenty of seating. What they also have are some beautifully gift wrapped packages of biscuits and cakes to take home - perfect for Christmas presents!

Busy Bees is best found if you park in the marina car park opposite the British High Commission in Ta'Xbiex, walk along the main road (Ix Xatt Ta'Xbiex) by the marina and you will find them on the right hand side of the road. Alternatively you could catch the Valletta bus from Sliema and get off in Msida.

Fairly inconspicuous but they've been there for donkeys years.

Here's another one in Valletta.

The Inspiration cafe/restaurant in the Arts Centre is up some steps just behind the opera house ruins. Or you can access it from beside the post office nr to the Upper Barracca Gardens.

This really is an great place to eat with an extensive menu for lunch or dinner, great cakes and coffee and brilliant for the kids too. There really is a lot of choice on the menu and the quality of the food and service is excellent. Prices are reasonable too.

You will find the menus etc. that you require.
I don't know about the link with Rolf Harris, Benny Muskat has been the owner since it opened and the new name is in fact his wifes name ahh!!!

Many thanks for that. It is the old 'Whispers' and mentions that on it's 'steak menu'!

We will be there on a Tuesday night when we go for ourn short trip next year. Unfortunately no entertainment booked on Tueday nights according to the site. I emailed them quite a while back to see if they do have some sort of entertainment but sadly that have not replied.

Anyone who catches the ferry back from Valletta to Sliema on the last bit of the road to the wharf will have passed Cockney's built against and into the city walls. A wonderful seafood restaurent specialising in fresh seafood.

Wife and I were most impressed and recommend this place to anyone.

This one is in Gozo near the ferry port at Mgarr. It is called Lublo Lounge and is quite simply stunning. It is a little pricey but well worth every penny.

thats a new one to me - whereabouts is it at Mgarr ?

is it on the "restaurant street" where Sammys and Manuels are, or is it the new steak house opposite Gleneagles ?

It is down a little side street. Don't know the name, but turn right when you come out of the ferry port and instead of following the main road, keep right down a little dirt track alongside the waterfront. There is a bar down there, but then there is an alleyway and it is in the alleyway. There is nothing else down there other than that place. I understand that the name is ukranian in origin.
