We finally booked our holiday yesterday, as Thomas Cook had a cracking deal on The Kairaba. So we are off to Gambia in December, for two weeks.
As it is our first time in Gambia, we would appreciate any advice you can give us. Especially when it comes to eating out and places to visit.
Do you book your trips through the holiday rep or independently?
Through reading some of the other posts - I presume it is best to take Stirling and change it over there, instead of using my nationwide card or traveller's cheques.
Your help and advice is appreciated. x

We definitely found it best to take sterling when we went.
There are loads of restaurants to chose from - I'm sure someone who has been there more recently can give you up to date recommendations.
Also down the Palma Rima road is Luigis, fantastic Italian.
Another good restraunt is the Amsterdam Dolphin in Kololi.
Dont use the tour operaters for trips they are really expensive.
Outside the Hotel you will find the official gov tourists guides, they will take you anywhere you want very cheaply. DONT use the yellow cabs, your holiday insurance only covers you in the green ones!!
Thanks for the replies so far. We booked the holiday and then I began to worry we'd done the wrong thing, and maybe should have gone back to Goa. However I am feeling a little bit better and it helps the more I read, the more I'm coming around to the idea.
