It is a worry micky and I do hope you manage to get away.

Even though we don't go until next Tuesday I am starting to wonder if the weather conditions will allow us to fly, just glad I booked a package holiday this new year as we usually go with Easyjet and they will cancel flights if there is a bit of snow! The advise seems to be to keep checking the appropiate websites for any updates.
I have booked an airport hotel the night before so it will be too late if the advise is to not travel to the airport because it is closed etc.

thanks cazB, well we should leave home for the airport at around 1am but are more worried what weather awaits us at luton with regards to getting in the car park or possibley getting out again if flight is cancelled. I wish we'd booked a package as we should be flying with Ryanair and wouldnt get much (if any!!) help at all. Oh well fingers crossed to all the those due to travel soon.

it was snowing in Hemel Hempstead at 10 this morning, but i don't know if it reached LTN, we are forecast more snow tonight and tomorrow across Bedfordshire but it has been erratic as to where it falls

Can't show ice forming on runway or planes but at the moment does show why Dublin airport has just had to close!

you can register for free to access the satellite images of the UK and beyond from their receiving station. The site is primarily for academic researchers but anyone can register out of personal interest and download the pics as long as they credit the Uni with providing the images if they display them publicly. It's an endless source of diversion for me from what I should really be getting on with on quiet days at work in the University

Once registered, if you look back through the gallery of images vai the link for 'snow' it really brings home just how much of the white stuff has fallen in the last 2 months!
