The next NATO summit is being held on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 April in Strasbourg and Baden Baden.
This has already caused a lot of hassle for those living in Strasbourg and the surrounding area. Lots of world leaders are expected and all their staff, entourages and security.
Do not attempt to visit either town on those two days and a couple of days before and after. Movement is being very strictly controlled - basically it comes down to no badge, no entry - all around this area and it is likely that Strasbourg Airport and Strasbourg railway station will be very badly affected with knock-on effects on rail links between Switzerland and Germany and also Paris TGVs.
Please stay away if you can.
(Not to mention that protesters of all camps will be lining up to 'enjoy' the event in their own particular way!!)
Prisoners in your own city then! Why don't they have these summits in some remote castle where they won't completely mess up the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people? Good luck.
You are certainly not alone in having these thoughts! I hear them voiced by people regularly and couldn't agree more. Mind you Obama's hotel is the nearest thing to a palace this side of Buck House!!! (And apparently he's bringing 900 - yes NINE HUNDRED - staff with him!!
