Hi Katie
Yes they have fruit available. There was always lots of watermelon sliced up and they had dishes full of fruit cocktail or peaches. Also noticed they had apples, huge red things!!
They had a salad selection with chopped tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, lettuce all in their own dishes for you to help yourself to and not all covered in mayo or dressings. Then theres a mild garlic dip the kids loved and other coleslaw looking sorts of things. They also have grated carrot. Theres always spaghetti, a meat sauce and tomatoe sauce at lunchtime and tea time. They had tomatoe sauce in a large container for you to spoon on yourself, along with other salad dressings. There is a selection of cheeses, not sure what they are but there must have been about four or five different sorts, some sliced and some where you chop off what you want.
The people in the restaurant are quite quick to ask you how many when you go to sit down on a table, and they clean up very quickly! You only have to turn your head sometimes and they clean up your plate.
Glad to have you back & see that you had a good time! I hope the info i gave you before you went helped. Sounds like not much has changed since last year, so I hope they keep their high standards up from now on!
Have a good holiday Katie, bet you can't wait to go now!
Suddy
Thanks to you both for all your information, I'm really excited now!
Had to nip out and buy a new suitcase today as our biggest one has broken!! Good job I didn't wait until the last minute to get them down from the loft!
Will start packing stuff tomorrow - we go very early Wednesday morning, can't wait!!!
Katie.
Can you tell me what the transfer time is from the airport to hotel please? I have read it can be anything from 20 minutes to 1hr 30mins!?!?!
I have also read that the night entertainment finishes at 10.30, although this was an old review - is this correct? The brochure says the bar is open until 2am - not that I can see us staying up that late!
Thanks,
Katie
Yes it does all finish early. It's a bit too early really. They do a mini disco at 8.45 which is a good time as other places we've visited it's been at 8 and you end up rushing through tea so the kids don't miss it. This goes on for about 20 minutes then they have a few minutes break and the show starts around 9.30. When we were there the entertainment had usually finished by 10.30, a couple of nights it did go on till closer to 11. They get all the kids on stage after the show everynight and do the entertainment teams dance, don't worry you'll soon pick it up!
Transfer time wasn't too long. We only had to do another couple of drop offs so it took about 20 minutes. Then to come back we had to pick up at a hotel down the road then drive to Trianda (think thats what its called) and then headed straight to the airport. Think that took just over half hour or so, but it was no time at all as your busy looking out the windows.
Not sure what time the bars were open till, we usually had a drink at the bar by the beach after the show and then headed back to the rooms by 11.15ish. Kids were usually exhausted by then.
Hope you've started that packing and not leaving it till the last minute like I did!
Don't forget on Thursday they're won't be any activities or show as its their day off! They'll be with you on Friday morning though!
Packed everything except our actual clothes so far - so will do these tomorrow now in hoping that they don't crease too much.
Marie - on Thursday nights then, as its their day off so no show, is that when they have greek dancers or a band on stage?
Also, is there good air conditioning inside the restaurant in the evening? it was very poor in the hotel we stayed in last year and we were literally sweating whilst trying to eat our dinner!
Not looked at the reviews yet before asking this, but wondered whether you are/or maybe already have put a review for the hotel on this site? Do you think you will be returning to this hotel again next year? I have never been to Rhodes before so really looking forward to going somewhere different.
Katie.
Katie, hope you have a great time, think Marie has covered everything so havent got much i can tell you. The entertainment does finish at 10.30, but the Diana bar which is inside stays open till 2am. We would go there after the entertainment and my son, who is 12, would have an hour in the internet room (7 euros) which is just opposite. It was a nice way to finish the evening.
We found the restaurant to be quite hot especially at breakfast. Also we did notice quite a few men in shorts, but as Marie said they were knee length. My partner and son wore shorts to dinner on Friday and nothing was said. Think this mainly applies to really short ones.
Apart from one cloudy day on the Sunday, the rest of the week was great. On our last day (Sat) the temperature was 35, which we found a bit too much.
Also you mentioned the al a carte. They dont do this anymore. I was told at the time of booking.
The only problem we had was the mosquitos. Even though i used the same spray i have used for years i got bit 20 times and my son had 6 bites. Think they have got immune to it.
We had a lovely room. From our balcony we could see the two main pools, the beach and the sea. It was fantastic. Got talking to a couple who had paid £70 for the same view, and we hadnt even requested it so guess we were just lucky. Also didnt have a bath but our shower was fixed to the wall. Had to be careful though as if we had it on too powerful it flooded the bathroom.
The beer they serve is Amstel. It is in small glasses but nothing stops you from getting two at a time. It is self serve in the pool taverna where they serve lunch.
The animation team really are a great bunch. They work so hard day and night. On our last day my son won the pool game which was head basketball. They told him he could collect his certificate after the mini disco but he said he would be gone by then. A few minutes later they came round the pool calling his name. They had done his certificate so he didnt miss out, which was really thoughtful of them.
Am sure you will enjoy it as much as we did. We really couldnt find fault with anything.
Marie, so glad you enjoyed yourselves. We must have walked past you when you were sitting by the pool.
Suddy, the info you gave really helped so thanks for that.
Cazzi x
Thanks a lot for your extra information. Sounds like you had a really great time.
I'm a bit concerned about the mosquitos though - they usually eat me alive! I used the Avon dry oil spray last year and got away with it so I'm hoping this will work for me again this year. What do you use?
Marie also mentioned the small glasses they serve beer in although didn't have any herself. Are they the size of half a pint or smaller? I can imagine it gets really busy round the self serve bit.
Katie.
The beer is served in half pint glasses in the indoor bar, but at all the other bars they are served in disposable cups as they are outdoors. Would say these are less than half pint but as i said you can get more than one at a time anyway. The self serve is at lunchtimes only. We never had to queue at all at any of the bars as they always have plenty of staff on.

We didn't get any bites the first few days (I say we, actually its only me that ever seems to get bitten!!!!!!!!!!!!) then I got a couple of little things on my arm and leg so we used those ones you plug into round room to get rid of mosquitos. Then about two days before we were due home I had a HUGE bite on my ankle. Had taken Eurax cream with us which I put on the bite and it totally stopped the itching.
Katie, bet your getting really excited now!
Think we got a lot of our bites at the water park. My other half never used the spray and he only got two bites all week.
Cazzi x
Yes, I'm getting really excited now, its just hit me that we are flying tomorrow so feeling a bit nervous about that, will be ok once we are up in the air I hope.
Got to get up at 1.30am as being picked up early for the airport. Not sure if its worth going to bed as probably won't sleep anyway. Nevermind, I will have 2 weeks to catch up on my sunbed.
Anyway, thanks to all of you - Marie, Suddy & Cazzi - for all your really helpful feedback on what looks like a lovely hotel. I will make sure I feedback on my return.
Katie.
Have a great holiay Katie. I'm 3 weeks tomorrow - early start just like yourselves.
Katie,
I am just putting my daughter to be then I think we will try and go early - don't think we will get much sleep though as all too excited!!
Will let you know how we got on when we get back.
4 days and counting. I hope the weather stays as it is now, it looks lovely. Roll on Wednesday!
We've just come back from 2 weeks holiday there, all inclusive... what can I say FANTASTIC PLACE/PEOPLE/HOLIDAY! we were very impressed with the Hotel and facilities. It looks gorgeous and is SO clean! The Animation team ran by Jonny was fantastic! a great show every night (not fogetting kiddie disco too) food was gorgeous and plentyfull, island was beautiful (we hired a Cherokee Jeep and drove to every bit of Rhodes!) We are even thinking about buying property there. I would definately go back to Esperides Hotel, we're all missing it desperately.. The kids were crying leaving! (have to say I had to hold it in!!) 10/10 from us
Just wondered how the holiday went, hope you all had a fantastic time! Ours seems to be a distant memory now.
Got back yesterday teatime and had a fantastic time!
The hotel was indeed excellent - facilities, food and drink, entertainment both day and night, kids activities, everything - we just couldn't fault the place. We liked it so much that we are going to try and book to go again next year.
Couldn't believe how hot it was though - our hottest day reached an amazing 47 degrees and only dropped to 33 degrees that night - too hot really that day. The rest of the time it hovered around early 40's with a gentle breeze but this sometimes felt like a hairdryer blowing in your face! Aparently Greece had a heatwave whilst we were there and fires were breaking out in places (so I heard - not in Rhodes though!).
All staff in hotel were really friendly, especially the entertainment team - Sam was great fun and loved our girls. Shows were funny in the evening too once you got used to them saying everything in 3 different languages.
This was the best holiday we have had so far and really loved Rhodes too. none of us wanted to come home!
Have you booked anywhere for next year yet?
Katie
So glad you enjoyed your hols. We are thinking of going back again next year. Have never felt like that before, usually like trying different places but think we would have trouble finding anywhere as nice.
Take care
Cazzi x
